What engineered to order actually means
Every cart on this page starts from a Pony Express drive platform we already build in volume, which is the part that matters for reliability. The motor, the controller, the batteries, the braking and the operator controls are proven parts running in hospitals and plants across the country. What changes is everything above the drive, so the deck size, the capacity rating, the lift mechanism, the shelving, the locking and the way the operator drives it. That is why these carts have no model number and no shelf price, and it is also why they last as long as the standard units do.
The practical difference for a buyer is the lead time and the conversation. A standard cart ships from a build queue. An engineered cart starts with a drawing, and EK Tech will not quote one until they understand the load, the floor and the route. That takes a phone call, not a shopping cart button.
How the quote works
Call us on 1-888-233-5563 or send the contact form with three things. What you move and what it weighs, the space it has to travel through including door widths and any ramps, and how the operator needs to control it. Photos of the load and the aisle help more than anything else. We take it to the EK Tech application engineering group, they come back with a configuration and a price, and we send you the quote with the lead time on it.

Which line fits the job
Moving something heavy across a plant on rails or casters is a transfer cart. Moving tooling in and out of a press is a die cart. Carrying pipe, bar stock, extrusions or panels that hang off the end of a normal deck is a long deck cart. Getting a maintenance crew and its tool chest across a large site without pushing is a tool cart.
On the healthcare side the split is about what goes inside. Secured medication for a med pass is a medication cart. Scopes, processors and monitors travelling between rooms is an endoscopy cart. Central pharmacy to the floors is a pharmacy cart. Emergency response equipment is a crash cart.
