Overview

Bangeran Phoenix Ultra Lightweight Folding Power Wheelchair climbing a slope

The Bangeran Phoenix weighs 43.65 lb, which puts it within reach of a caregiver lifting alone. An aircraft grade aluminum frame folds to 29 by 14 by 28 inches for the trunk, and the light lithium battery is built for airline travel.

The Bangeran Phoenix is the chair for anyone who has to lift it. At 43.65 lb it is one of the lightest powered wheelchairs Bangeran builds, and the 1.85 lb battery lifts out first, so the frame that goes into the trunk is lighter still. A caregiver can manage the whole job alone.

Light does not mean flimsy. The frame is aircraft grade aluminum, it needs no maintenance, and a dual shock absorber setup with 8 inch front and 12 inch rear wheels keeps the ride settled on grass, gravel, brick and snow. The intelligent electromagnetic brake stops it smoothly and holds it in place.

Indoors the Phoenix is easy to live with. The 8 inch front wheels let it spin a full 360 degrees inside a 33 inch radius, so doorways, hallways and shop aisles stop being a three point turn. Breathable seat and back cushions keep a rider comfortable through the day.

It is built for travel. Folded it measures 29 by 14 by 28 inches, and the lithium battery is designed around TSA and FAA rules for mobility devices. A second battery doubles the day range for longer trips. A seat belt and anti tipper are fitted as standard.

How much does the Bangeran Phoenix weigh?

43.65 lb with the battery installed, and the battery itself is only 1.85 lb. Take the battery out and the frame that goes into the trunk is about 42 lb. That is light enough for most caregivers to lift alone, which is the point of this model. It folds to 29 x 14 x 28 in.

Can I take the Bangeran Phoenix on a plane?

It is built for travel. The 6Ah, 24 volt lithium battery works out to about 144 Wh, well under the 300 Wh federal limit for a removable mobility aid battery carried in the cabin, and it lifts out of the chair. Airlines may ask for 48 hours notice for a power wheelchair, so confirm with your airline before you fly.

How far will the Phoenix go on a charge?

Up to 6 miles on the standard 6Ah lithium battery. Carrying a second battery roughly doubles the day range for longer trips. A full charge takes 8 to 12 hours, so charging overnight suits it. If you regularly cover more than a few miles a day, plan on the second battery.

Will the Phoenix fit through my doorways?

Unfolded, it is 23 in wide, and it turns a full 360 degrees inside a 33 in radius. That clears standard interior doorways and makes hallways and shop aisles easier. If your home has narrow doors, measure the clear opening with the door fully open.

Can the Bangeran Phoenix handle grass and gravel?

Yes. Dual shock absorbers with 8 in front and 12 in rear solid wheels keep the ride settled on grass, gravel, brick and snow, and the solid tires never go flat. It is rated for slopes up to 6 degrees, and the electromagnetic brake holds it in place.

What is the weight capacity and seat size of the Phoenix?

It carries riders up to 265 lb. The seat is 17.5 in wide and 16.5 in deep, set 19 in off the ground, with a 16 in wide by 15 in high seatback and breathable cushions. A seat belt and anti tipper come fitted as standard.

How fast is the Phoenix, and can the joystick go on the left?

Top speed is 4 mph from dual 250W motors. The analog joystick is waterproof, turns through 360 degrees and mounts on either side of the chair.

Will Medicare or insurance pay for the Phoenix?

Medicare will not pay for it when bought here. Heavy Duty Mobility does not hold a Medicare supplier number and does not bill Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance. Some private plans reimburse you directly, so ask your insurer. If they agree, we provide an invoice and proof of purchase for your claim.
