Overview

Bangeran Thunderbolt All Terrain Folding Power Wheelchair in everyday use

The Bangeran Thunderbolt reclines a full 180 degrees by hand, so a rider can stretch out on a long day instead of sitting upright for hours. Dual shock absorbers and 12.5 inch pneumatic rear tires take on grass and gravel, and the folded chair weighs 58 lb for the car.

The Bangeran Thunderbolt is the recline first chair in the Bangeran range. A manual handle drops the backrest through a full 180 degrees, which lets a rider shift weight off the lower back and hips, take pressure off the skin and rest properly without transferring out of the chair. Riders who spend most of the day seated feel that difference by the afternoon.

Underneath, the Thunderbolt is built for rough going. Dual shock absorbers sit between the frame and the wheels, the rear runs 12.5 inch pneumatic tires and the front carries 8 inch solid wheels. Grass, gravel paths, cobblestones and driveway lips stop being obstacles. Intelligent electromagnetic brakes hold the chair the moment the joystick returns to center, including on a slope.

For the car it folds to 20 by 25 by 30.5 inches on an aircraft grade aluminum frame, and the 58.3 lb chair has a lift handle under the seat. The 12Ah lithium battery lifts out on its own, which drops the lifting weight and makes flight and cruise paperwork easier to handle.

A 24V 250W dual motor drive gives a 4 mph top speed, up to 12 miles of range and a 300 lb weight capacity. The 360 degree waterproof analog joystick mounts on either armrest for left or right hand riders, and a headrest and remote control come in the box.

Can the Bangeran Thunderbolt backrest really lie flat?

Yes. A manual handle takes the backrest through a full 180 degrees to a flat or nearly flat position, and a headrest comes in the box. That lets a rider stretch out and rest on a long day without transferring out of the chair. Always recline on level ground with the chair stopped.

How is the Thunderbolt different from the Thunderbolt Auto Recline?

Both share the same frame, motors, battery and dimensions. The Thunderbolt reclines with a manual handle, uses an analog joystick and runs pneumatic rear tires. The Auto Recline lowers the backrest at the push of a button, adds a digital joystick with a USB charging port, a headlight and turn signals, and runs solid rear tires.

Will the Thunderbolt handle grass and gravel?

Yes. The 12.5 in pneumatic rear tires, 8 in solid front wheels and dual shock absorbers are built for grass, gravel paths, cobblestones and driveway lips. It is rated for slopes up to 9 degrees, and the electromagnetic brakes hold the chair when the joystick returns to center, including on a slope.

How heavy is the Thunderbolt to lift into a car?

The chair weighs 58.3 lb and the 7 lb lithium battery lifts out on its own, which lightens the load. A lift handle under the seat gives a solid grip. Folded, it measures 20 x 25 x 30.5 in, so check that against your trunk opening.

How far does the Thunderbolt go on a charge?

Up to 12 miles on its 12Ah, 24 volt lithium battery, about 288 Wh. Grass, gravel, slopes and rider weight shorten that. A full charge takes 8 to 12 hours, so overnight charging suits it.

Will the Thunderbolt fit through my doorways?

It is 25 in wide and 40 in long unfolded, so it is narrower than the 28 to 30 in doors found in many homes. Turning takes more space, with a 47.25 in turning radius, so measure tight hallway corners and bathroom doorways where you need to turn.

Can I take the Thunderbolt on a plane?

The 12Ah, 24 volt lithium battery works out to about 288 Wh, under the 300 Wh federal limit for a removable mobility aid battery, and it lifts out of the chair in moments. Every airline runs its own approval process, so have the battery specifications ready and confirm with your airline before you fly.

What is the weight capacity and seat size of the Thunderbolt?

It carries riders up to 300 lb. The seat is 18 in wide and 18 in deep, set 19 in off the ground, with a 16 in wide seatback. The analog joystick is waterproof and mounts on either armrest, and a remote control is included.

Will Medicare or insurance pay for the Thunderbolt?

Medicare will not pay for it when bought here. Heavy Duty Mobility does not hold a Medicare supplier number and does not bill Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance. Some private plans reimburse you directly, so ask your insurer. If they agree, we provide an invoice and proof of purchase for your claim.
