Overview

Porto Mobility Ranger Aero folding power wheelchair, front view

The Ranger Aero is a T700 carbon fiber folding power wheelchair that weighs 26 lbs without its two 3 lb batteries. It carries riders up to 265 lbs, reaches an adjustable 4.5 mph, travels up to 20 miles on both batteries and comes with a remote control.

The Aero is built for people who lift their chair often. Its T700 carbon fiber frame weighs 26 lbs with the batteries out, and each battery adds 3 lbs. Folded, it lies flat at 30.7 x 23 x 9.7 in, a shape that slides into a trunk or stands in a closet without taking much room.

Two 180W brushless motors give an adjustable top speed of 4.5 mph, and two 24V 6Ah lithium batteries cover up to 20 miles. The chair is rated for 265 lbs on a 19 in seat. You drive with a detachable 360 degree joystick, and Porto includes a remote control with the chair.

Key Features

  • T700 carbon fiber frame weighs 26 lbs without batteries
  • Each lithium battery weighs 3 lbs
  • Up to 20 miles on two 24V 6Ah batteries
  • Adjustable top speed up to 4.5 mph
  • Folds flat to 30.7 x 23 x 9.7 in
  • Rated for riders up to 265 lbs with a 19 in seat
  • Remote control included
  • Solid polyurethane tires that are puncture free

Who the Aero Suits

The Aero suits a rider up to 265 lbs who travels often and wants to keep lifting weight as low as possible. Its 15 degree climbing limit and 3.9 in ground clearance make it a better fit for sidewalks, airports, stores and paved paths than for rough ground.

How It Compares

The Ranger Carbon is the Aero's closest sibling. It weighs 34 lbs and carries up to 300 lbs, and it can take a third battery, so you trade 8 lbs of extra weight for more capacity and range. The Ranger Skylight is also rated for 265 lbs and weighs 30 lbs, but it has an 18 in seat and a shorter 13 mile range.

Warranty

What does the Ranger Aero warranty cover?

The Ranger Aero is covered by Porto Mobility's standard warranty, since Porto does not list separate terms for this model. Those standard terms cover the frame for 3 years and the electronics and batteries for 1 year.

Porto does not cover damage from abuse, such as taking it through deep water or dropping it. When a covered part fails, Porto sends the replacement part and connects you with a local service provider for the repair. If something goes wrong, contact us first and we will take the claim to Porto's technical team for you.

Does Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance help pay for the Ranger Aero?

We do not work with Medicare and we do not bill private insurance directly. Some private plans will reimburse you after you buy, so it is worth calling your insurer to ask. If they say yes, we are happy to provide an invoice and proof of purchase so you can file for reimbursement.

Notice to Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries. Medicare pays for equipment only when the supplier has a Medicare supplier number. Heavy Duty Mobility does not have one, so Medicare will not pay for anything we sell you. You are personally and fully responsible for payment.

You prepay the return shipping, and the original shipping charges are not refunded, so keep the boxes until you are sure. Items sold as open box cannot be returned.

Warranty problems are handled separately and do not count as a return. Please read the full returns policy for the details.

Take ramps slowly and straight on, and avoid steep ramps, deep grass and loose gravel. Porto does not publish a water resistance rating, so keep the chair out of rain and standing water.

Will it fit in my car?

Folded flat at 9.7 in tall, the Aero can lie on a trunk or cargo floor. Measure your opening against 30.7 x 23 in before you order.

Can I fly or cruise with it?

Porto describes the Aero as made for air and cruise travel. Each battery is a 24V 6Ah lithium pack, and airline and cruise line rules differ, so confirm with your carrier before you book.

Is Porto Mobility a good brand?

Porto Mobility designs and sells folding power wheelchairs, lightweight folding mobility scooters and portable chair lifts. Its Ranger chairs fold small enough for a car trunk or SUV cargo area, on carbon fiber or aluminum alloy frames depending on the model, and Porto publishes a weight capacity for each chair, scooter and lift.

Porto's standard warranty covers the frame for 3 years and the electronics and batteries for 1 year, and some models carry different terms. When a covered part fails, Porto sends the replacement part and connects you with a local service provider. As an authorized dealer we stay your first point of contact and take the claim to Porto's technical team for you.

Delivery to your curb is free. Check the packaging and the chair before you sign for it, and call 1-888-233-5563 if anything looks wrong.
