Overview

Porto Mobility Ranger SpacePro folding power wheelchair, angled rear view with logo back pouch

The Ranger SpacePro is a carbon fiber folding power wheelchair rated for 400 lbs that weighs 43 lbs before you add its two 3 lb batteries. Twin 250W motors give it a 5 mph top speed and up to 20 miles of range, and it folds down to 13 x 31 in for the trunk.

The SpacePro is the standard size in Porto's carbon fiber SpacePro family. It has 19 in of seat width between the armrests, a 20 in seat height and a 400 lb weight capacity. The carbon fiber frame weighs 43 lbs with the batteries out.

Two 250W brushless motors drive and steer through the rear wheels, and two 24V 6Ah lithium batteries take the chair up to 20 miles on a charge. The 8 in front and 12.5 in rear wheels are puncture free, so there are no tubes to patch. Porto rates it for grades up to 25 degrees, and it turns in a 31 in radius.

Who the SpacePro Suits

This model makes sense for a rider up to 400 lbs who sits comfortably in a 19 in seat and wants a high capacity chair that still folds small. If you need more room across the hips, the SpacePro XL has a 21 in seat and the SpacePro XXL has a 23 in seat on the same frame, motors and batteries.

How It Compares

The SpacePro Recliner shares this chair's frame and 400 lb rating and adds a backrest that reclines to 130 degrees. The TorqueLite carries the same 400 lbs on a 43 lb frame but moves up to 300W motors, 10Ah batteries and air filled rear tires, with a shorter range of up to 17 miles.

Warranty

What does the Ranger SpacePro warranty cover?

Porto covers the carbon fiber frame for 3 years. The motors, controller and batteries are covered for 1 year.

Porto does not cover damage from abuse, such as taking it through deep water or dropping it. When a covered part fails, Porto sends the replacement part and connects you with a local service provider for the repair. If something goes wrong, contact us first and we will take the claim to Porto's technical team for you.

What is the difference between the Ranger SpacePro, SpacePro XL and SpacePro XXL?

All three use a carbon fiber frame that weighs 43 lbs without batteries, carry 400 lbs, run two 250W motors and go up to 20 miles. The seat sets them apart, with 19 in between the armrests on the SpacePro, 21 in on the XL and 23 in on the XXL. Overall width grows with it, from 23 in to 24 in and 25.5 in.

What battery and charger does the Ranger SpacePro use?

The SpacePro runs on two 24V 6Ah lithium batteries that weigh 3 lbs each. Porto does not list a charging time or charger rating for this model, so call us and we will confirm both with Porto.

Can I take the Ranger SpacePro on a plane?

Each battery is rated 24V and 6Ah, which works out to 144 watt hours. Porto's SpacePro listing makes no airline statement, so give your airline that figure and confirm before you book.

Does the Ranger SpacePro recline?

Porto lists a reclining backrest on the Ranger SpacePro Recliner and not on this model. The Recliner uses the same 43 lb carbon fiber frame and reclines to 130 degrees, locking at any angle.

How do I order the Ranger SpacePro?

Add it to your cart on this page and check out, which takes a few minutes. You can pay in full or choose Klarna to spread the cost over monthly payments.

Can I order the Ranger SpacePro over the phone?

Yes. Call 1-888-233-5563 and we will place the order with you. All we need is your payment method and your shipping address. Extra batteries and other Porto accessories can be added to a phone order.

Does Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance help pay for the Ranger SpacePro?

We do not work with Medicare and we do not bill private insurance directly. Some private plans will reimburse you after you buy, so it is worth calling your insurer to ask. If they say yes, we are happy to provide an invoice and proof of purchase so you can file for reimbursement.

Notice to Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries. Medicare pays for equipment only when the supplier has a Medicare supplier number. Heavy Duty Mobility does not have one, so Medicare will not pay for anything we sell you. You are personally and fully responsible for payment.

What comes with the Ranger SpacePro?

Call us before you buy and we will confirm exactly what comes in the box.

How long until my Ranger SpacePro arrives?

The Ranger SpacePro ships from Porto Mobility. Porto quotes delivery in about 1 to 5 business days for models in stock, and we email you the expected ship date after you order. If you need it by a certain day, call us before you buy and we will check the timing.

Will I get tracking?

Yes. As soon as your order ships we email you a tracking link so you can follow it to your door.

Can I return the Ranger SpacePro?

Yes, within 30 days of delivery, as long as it comes back in new condition in its original boxes with all of its parts. A 15% restocking fee applies. You prepay the return shipping, and the original shipping charges are not refunded, so keep the boxes until you are sure. Items sold as open box cannot be returned.

Warranty problems are handled separately and do not count as a return. Please read the full returns policy for the details.

How do I fold the SpacePro?

The SpacePro folds to 13 x 31 in. Take the two batteries out before you lift it, which brings the chair down to its 43 lb frame weight. If you would like a walkthrough of the fold before your first trip, call us and we will go through it with you.

How does the SpacePro drive?

Two 250W brushless motors drive and steer through the rear wheels, and the top speed is 5 mph. Braking is electromagnetic with regenerative braking built in, and Porto rates the chair for grades up to 25 degrees. Take any slope slowly and straight on, never across it, and keep the chair out of rain and standing water, since Porto publishes no water resistance rating for the SpacePro.

How far will it go on a charge?

Porto rates the SpacePro at up to 20 miles on its two 24V 6Ah lithium batteries. Rider weight, hills, cold weather and rough ground all cut into that figure, so leave some margin on long outings. Extra batteries are available by phone.

Can someone push it by hand?

Yes. Freewheel mode lets a caregiver push the chair like a manual wheelchair, which helps when the batteries run low or the chair needs to be moved while nobody is driving it.

Will it fit in my car?

Folded, the SpacePro measures 13 x 31 in. Measure your trunk or cargo opening before you order, and plan on lifting 43 lbs once the batteries are out.

Can I fly with it?

Each battery is a 24V 6Ah lithium pack weighing 3 lbs. Airlines and cruise lines set their own rules for lithium mobility batteries, so share those figures with your carrier and confirm before you book.

Is Porto Mobility a good brand?

Porto Mobility designs and sells folding power wheelchairs, lightweight folding mobility scooters and portable chair lifts. Its Ranger chairs fold small enough for a car trunk or SUV cargo area, on carbon fiber or aluminum alloy frames depending on the model, and Porto publishes a weight capacity for each chair, scooter and lift.

Porto's standard warranty covers the frame for 3 years and the electronics and batteries for 1 year, and some models carry different terms. When a covered part fails, Porto sends the replacement part and connects you with a local service provider. As an authorized dealer we stay your first point of contact and take the claim to Porto's technical team for you.

How is my chair delivered?

Delivery to your curb is free. Check the packaging and the chair before you sign for it, and call 1-888-233-5563 if anything looks wrong.

Can I pay over time?

Yes. Choose Klarna at checkout to pay over time. See how financing works.

Can I talk to someone before I buy?

Yes. Call 1-888-233-5563. Real people answer, business hours and weekends.
