Overview

Porto Mobility Ranger Carbon folding scooter, side view

The Porto Mobility Ranger Carbon is a carbon fiber folding scooter that weighs 28.2 lbs without its battery and 30 lbs with it. It carries riders up to 275 lbs, travels up to 12 miles per charge and has a top speed that adjusts up to 4 mph. Porto describes its lithium battery as airline compliant.

The frame is 100 percent carbon fiber, which is how the Ranger Carbon gets down to 30 lbs ready to ride. Folded, it needs a footprint of 17.7 x 14.5 in. Unfolded, it measures 17.7 x 37.8 x 37.4 in, with a 16 x 15.5 in seat set 15 in above the deck.

It switches on with an NFC keyless start and shows its information on a digital color display. The tiller telescopes so you can set it to your reach, and the scooter carries an LED headlight, a reverse alert and a built in horn. Range is up to 12 miles per charge, and rider weight and terrain will change that figure.

Riders who need more capacity or speed should look at the Toran HD.

Warranty

What does the Ranger Carbon warranty cover?

The Ranger Carbon is covered by Porto Mobility's standard warranty, since Porto does not list separate terms for this model. Those standard terms cover the frame for 3 years and the electronics and batteries for 1 year.

Porto does not cover damage from abuse, such as taking it through deep water or dropping it. When a covered part fails, Porto sends the replacement part and connects you with a local service provider for the repair. If something goes wrong, contact us first and we will take the claim to Porto's technical team for you.

How much does the Ranger Carbon scooter weigh?

The Ranger Carbon scooter weighs 30 lbs with its battery and 28.2 lbs with the battery out. The frame is carbon fiber, and Porto rates the scooter for riders up to 275 lbs.

Can I take the Ranger Carbon scooter on a plane?

Porto describes its lithium battery as airline compliant. Porto does not list the battery's voltage or amp hours, so read the watt hour rating on the battery label and confirm with your airline before you book.

Does the Ranger Carbon scooter fold?

It folds to a 14.5 x 17.7 in footprint (L x W). Porto does not list a folded height. Open, the scooter measures 37.8 x 17.7 x 37.4 in.

How do I order the Ranger Carbon?

Add it to your cart on this page and check out, which takes a few minutes. You can pay in full or choose Klarna to spread the cost over monthly payments.

Can I order the Ranger Carbon over the phone?

Yes. Call 1-888-233-5563 and we will place the order with you. All we need is your payment method and your shipping address. Extra batteries and other Porto accessories can be added to a phone order.

Does Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance help pay for the Ranger Carbon?

We do not work with Medicare and we do not bill private insurance directly. Some private plans will reimburse you after you buy, so it is worth calling your insurer to ask. If they say yes, we are happy to provide an invoice and proof of purchase so you can file for reimbursement.

Notice to Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries. Medicare pays for equipment only when the supplier has a Medicare supplier number. Heavy Duty Mobility does not have one, so Medicare will not pay for anything we sell you. You are personally and fully responsible for payment.

What comes with the Ranger Carbon?

Call us before you buy and we will confirm exactly what comes in the box.

How long until my Ranger Carbon arrives?

The Ranger Carbon ships from Porto Mobility. Porto quotes delivery in about 1 to 5 business days for models in stock, and we email you the expected ship date after you order. If you need it by a certain day, call us before you buy and we will check the timing.

Will I get tracking?

Yes. As soon as your order ships we email you a tracking link so you can follow it to your door.

Can I return the Ranger Carbon?

Yes, within 30 days of delivery, as long as it comes back in new condition in its original boxes with all of its parts. A 15% restocking fee applies. You prepay the return shipping, and the original shipping charges are not refunded, so keep the boxes until you are sure. Items sold as open box cannot be returned.

Warranty problems are handled separately and do not count as a return. Please read the full returns policy for the details.

How do I start and drive the Ranger Carbon?

The scooter uses an NFC keyless start, so there is no ignition key to turn. Once it is on, the digital color display shows its status, and you can set the top speed anywhere up to 4 mph. Starting slow is a good idea while you get used to the controls.

How far will it go on a charge?

Expect up to 12 miles per charge. Heavier riders, hills and rough ground all shorten that distance. If you need more range for travel days, extra batteries are available by phone.

How do I charge it?

The charging port sits at the rear and uses a polarity safe plug. Charge after each day of use so the battery is ready for the next outing.

Can I ride it after dark?

It has an LED headlight for seeing ahead, a reverse alert that warns people behind you, and a horn. Stick to well lit paths at night all the same.

Where can I ride it?

Porto does not publish a slope rating or a ground clearance figure for the Ranger Carbon, so keep to level pavement, store floors and gentle ramps, and call us before you plan on hills. Porto also gives no water resistance rating, so keep the scooter out of rain and standing water.

Will it fit in my car?

Folded, the Ranger Carbon needs a 17.7 x 14.5 in footprint. It weighs 30 lbs with the battery, or 28.2 lbs if you lift the battery out first.

Can I fly or cruise with it?

Porto describes the Ranger Carbon's lithium battery as airline compliant. Airlines and cruise lines each set their own rules for mobility devices and lithium batteries, so confirm with yours before you book. We can give you the battery details to share with them.

Is Porto Mobility a good brand?

Porto Mobility designs and sells folding power wheelchairs, lightweight folding mobility scooters and portable chair lifts. Its Ranger chairs fold small enough for a car trunk or SUV cargo area, on carbon fiber or aluminum alloy frames depending on the model, and Porto publishes a weight capacity for each chair, scooter and lift.

Porto's standard warranty covers the frame for 3 years and the electronics and batteries for 1 year, and some models carry different terms. When a covered part fails, Porto sends the replacement part and connects you with a local service provider. As an authorized dealer we stay your first point of contact and take the claim to Porto's technical team for you.

How is my scooter delivered?

Delivery to your curb is free. Check the packaging and the scooter before you sign for it, and call 1-888-233-5563 if anything looks wrong.

Can I pay over time?

Yes. Choose Klarna at checkout to pay over time. See how financing works.

Can I talk to someone before I buy?

Yes. Call 1-888-233-5563. Real people answer, business hours and weekends.
