Overview

Bangeran Thunderbolt Auto Recline Folding Power Wheelchair with the backrest reclined

The Bangeran Thunderbolt Auto Recline drops its backrest a full 180 degrees at the push of a button, so no one has to reach behind the chair to work a handle. It adds a digital joystick with a USB charging port, a headlight and turn signals on the same 300 lb all terrain frame.

The Bangeran Thunderbolt Auto Recline takes the recline chair and removes the handle. One button on the controller lays the backrest through a full 180 degrees and brings it back, so the rider changes position without help and without anyone reaching behind the chair. For a caregiver, that is one less lift several times a day.

Lying back matters more than it sounds. Reclining redistributes body weight off the areas that take the most pressure and makes it possible to nap without leaving the chair. Riders who sit for long stretches use it constantly.

The rest of the chair is built for real streets. An aircraft grade aluminum frame folds in about 3 seconds to 20 by 25 by 30.5 inches, dual shock absorbers and 12.5 inch solid rear tyres soak up rough pavement, and intelligent electromagnetic brakes hold on slopes. Double folding footrests keep the legs supported and swing clear for transfers.

A 24V 250W dual motor drive gives 4 mph, up to 12 miles of range and a 300 lb capacity. The digital joystick adds a USB charging port for a phone, and a headlight plus turn signals keep the chair visible near traffic. The 12Ah lithium battery meets TSA and FAA guidance for air travel.

Can the rider recline the Thunderbolt Auto Recline without help?

Yes, that is the point of this model. One button on the same controller the rider drives with lays the backrest through a full 180 degrees and brings it back. Nobody has to reach behind the chair to release a handle, and a headrest is included for lying back.

What does the Auto Recline add over the standard Bangeran Thunderbolt?

The backrest is powered instead of manual. The joystick is a digital unit with a USB charging port, and the chair adds a headlight and turn signals. It also runs solid 12.5 in rear tires. The frame size, motors, battery, speed, range and 300 lb capacity match the standard Thunderbolt.

How fast does the Thunderbolt Auto Recline fold?

About 3 seconds. The aircraft grade aluminum frame collapses to 20 x 25 x 30.5 in, and a handle under the seat helps with the lift. The chair weighs 60.45 lb, and the 7 lb battery lifts out first to lighten the load. Check the folded size against your trunk opening.

Can the Thunderbolt Auto Recline handle rough pavement and slopes?

Yes. Dual shock absorbers and 12.5 in solid rear tires soak up rough pavement, and the solid tires cannot go flat. It is rated for slopes up to 9 degrees, and the intelligent electromagnetic brakes hold it on a slope. A headlight and turn signals keep the chair visible near traffic.

How far does the Thunderbolt Auto Recline go on a charge?

Up to 12 miles on its 12Ah, 24 volt lithium battery, about 288 Wh. Slopes, rough ground and rider weight shorten that. A full charge takes 8 to 12 hours.

Can I take the Thunderbolt Auto Recline on a plane?

The 12Ah, 24 volt lithium battery works out to about 288 Wh, under the 300 Wh federal limit for a removable mobility aid battery, and it lifts out of the chair in moments. Every airline runs its own approval process, so have the battery specifications ready and confirm with your airline before you fly.

Will the Thunderbolt Auto Recline fit through my doorways?

It is 25 in wide and 40 in long unfolded, so it is narrower than the 28 to 30 in doors found in many homes. Turning takes more space, with a 47.25 in turning radius, so measure tight hallway corners and bathroom doorways where you need to turn.

Will Medicare or insurance pay for the Thunderbolt Auto Recline?

Medicare will not pay for it when bought here. Heavy Duty Mobility does not hold a Medicare supplier number and does not bill Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance. Some private plans reimburse you directly, so ask your insurer. If they agree, we provide an invoice and proof of purchase for your claim.
