Overview

Bangeran Lite Wanderer Ultra Lightweight Folding Power Wheelchair key features

At 31 lb the Bangeran Lite Wanderer is the lightest powered chair Bangeran makes, light enough for one person to lift into a car without help. It folds to 21 by 15 by 35 inches and its battery is approved for air travel.

The Bangeran Lite Wanderer exists for one reason, which is weight. At 31 lb it is the lightest powered wheelchair Bangeran builds and one of the lightest sold anywhere. That number is what decides whether a spouse or a carer can load the chair into a car alone, and here the answer is yes.

Two 180W motors move it, which is enough for pavements, shop floors and gentle slopes up to about 6 degrees. Multi terrain solid tires, 7 inches at the front and 12 at the rear, never puncture and never need a pump. An intelligent braking system stops the chair from rolling back on an incline, and anti tilt rear wheels, a safety belt and manual brakes back that up.

Transfers were clearly thought about. The armrests lift up and out of the way and the footrest collapses, so getting in and out from the side is straightforward rather than an obstacle course. The seat is a breathable cushioned pad and the armrests are padded and non slip.

For travel it folds flat to 21 by 15 by 35 inches, the battery detaches and it is approved under FAA and TSA rules, which makes it a genuine option for flights and cruises rather than a chair that merely claims to be. A second battery doubles the 6 mile range for longer days.

How much does the Bangeran Lite Wanderer weigh?

31 lb, which makes it the lightest powered wheelchair Bangeran builds. The detachable battery weighs 1.75 lb, so taking it out first makes the lift lighter still. It folds to 21 x 15 x 35 in, small enough for one person to load into a car without help.

Can I take the Lite Wanderer on a plane?

It is designed for it. The battery detaches and is listed as FAA and TSA approved. At 5.2Ah and 24 volts it works out to about 125 Wh, well under the 300 Wh federal limit for a mobility aid battery carried in the cabin. Airlines may ask for 48 hours notice for a power wheelchair, so confirm with your airline before you fly.

How far will the Lite Wanderer go on a charge?

Up to 6 miles on the standard 5.2Ah lithium battery. Carrying a second battery doubles that for longer days, and the pack detaches without tools. A full charge takes 6 to 8 hours. Slopes and heavier loads use more power, so plan on the 6 mile figure as a maximum.

Is 220 lb really the weight limit on the Lite Wanderer?

Yes, and it is worth taking seriously. The frame and two 180W motors are sized for a lighter rider and occasional use. If the rider is close to 220 lb, or will use the chair all day every day, the Bangeran Phoenix or Hercules Lite is the better choice.

Can the Lite Wanderer go up slopes and over rough ground?

It handles pavements, shop floors and gentle slopes up to about 6 degrees. The 7 in front and 12 in rear tires are solid, so they never puncture or need a pump. Electromagnetic brakes stop it rolling back on an incline, with manual hand brakes and anti tilt rear wheels as backup. It is not an all terrain chair.

Is it easy to get in and out of the Lite Wanderer?

Yes, side transfers were planned for. The padded, non slip armrests lift up out of the way and the footrest collapses. The seat is 17 in wide and 17 in deep at 19 in high, with a breathable cushioned pad and a safety belt.

How fast is the Lite Wanderer, and can the joystick go on the left?

Top speed is 4 mph. The analog joystick is waterproof, turns through 360 degrees and mounts on either side. The chair turns a full circle within 33 in, which helps in hallways and small rooms.

Will Medicare or insurance pay for the Lite Wanderer?

Medicare will not pay for it when bought here. Heavy Duty Mobility does not hold a Medicare supplier number and does not bill Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance. Some private plans reimburse you directly, so ask your insurer. If they agree, we provide an invoice and proof of purchase for your claim.
