Overview

Porto Mobility Ranger Quattro folding power wheelchair with headrest in a living room beside a leather sofa

The Ranger Quattro is a folding power wheelchair rated for riders up to 400 lbs, with a 50 lb frame and two 4 lb lithium batteries. Dual 300W brushless motors give it a top speed of up to 6 mph and a range of up to 20 miles, and a third battery stretches that to 30.

The Quattro is the standard width model in Porto's Quattro family. Its seat measures 18.5 x 17.5 in and the open chair is 23.5 in wide, so it suits a home with ordinary interior doorways. Two 300W brushless motors drive the rear wheels, rated higher than the 250W motors in the Ranger Discovery and Maestro chairs.

The base frame weighs 50 lbs, and each of the two 24V 10Ah lithium batteries adds 4 lbs. Both batteries drain together, which Porto says spreads the wear evenly and keeps power steady through the ride. With the included 5A fast charger the pair recharges in about 2 hours.

Key Features

  • Rated for riders up to 400 lbs on an 18.5 x 17.5 in seat
  • Dual 300W brushless rear motors with a top speed of up to 6 mph
  • Up to 20 miles on the two included batteries, or up to 30 miles with a third battery
  • About 2 hours to recharge with the included 5A fast charger
  • Regenerative electromagnetic disc brakes plus a freewheel mode for pushing by hand
  • 4 point suspension with puncture free tires, 8 in front and 12.5 in rear
  • Joystick mounts on the left armrest, the right armrest or the backrest
  • Seat and backrest cushions come off and go in the washing machine

Who the Quattro Suits

The Quattro fits a rider up to 400 lbs who wants more motor than a typical lightweight folding chair offers but still needs to lift the frame into a car. At 50 lbs without batteries it is heavier than an ultralight carbon chair. What you get for those pounds is a pair of 300W motors and footrest clearance that adjusts from 2.5 to 3.5 in for curb cuts and uneven pavement.

How It Compares

All three Quattro models share the same 300W motors, 20 mile range and 33 in turning radius. The standard Quattro weighs 50 lbs and measures 23.5 in wide overall. The Quattro XL and Quattro XXL weigh 58 lbs and add a height adjustable backrest. The XL widens the seat, and the XXL moves to a 24 in seat with capacity raised to 440 lbs.

Warranty

What does the Ranger Quattro warranty cover?

Porto covers the Quattro frame for 4 years and the motors for 2 years. The controller and the batteries are covered for 1 year.

Porto does not cover damage from abuse, such as taking it through deep water or dropping it. What batteries and charger come with the Ranger Quattro?

The Ranger Quattro comes with two 24V 10Ah lithium batteries that weigh 4 lbs each, plus a 5A charger that refills them in about 2 hours. Porto rates two batteries for up to 20 miles and three for up to 30 miles, and a third battery is available by phone.

Can I take the Ranger Quattro on a plane or cruise?

Porto describes the Quattro as made for airline and cruise travel. Each battery is rated 24V and 10Ah, which works out to 240 watt hours. Give your airline or cruise line that figure and the number of batteries and confirm before you book.

What is the difference between the Ranger Quattro, Quattro XL and Quattro XXL?

The Quattro has an 18.5 in seat, weighs 50 lbs without batteries and carries 400 lbs. The Quattro XL has a 19 in seat with 21.5 in between the armrests and a height adjustable backrest, weighs 58 lbs and also carries 400 lbs. The Quattro XXL has a 24 in seat, weighs 58 lbs and carries 440 lbs. All three use two 300W motors and reach up to 6 mph.

Where can I get parts for the Ranger Quattro?

Porto's part number for the Ranger Quattro is PMRQ01. As an authorized Porto dealer we order replacement parts and accessories from Porto for you, so call us with that number and a description of the part you need.

How do I order the Ranger Quattro?

Add it to your cart on this page and check out, which takes a few minutes. You can pay in full or choose Klarna to spread the cost over monthly payments.

Can I order the Ranger Quattro over the phone?

Yes. Call 1-888-233-5563 and we will place the order with you. All we need is your payment method and your shipping address. Extra batteries and other Porto accessories can be added to a phone order.

Does Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance help pay for the Ranger Quattro?

We do not work with Medicare and we do not bill private insurance directly. Some private plans will reimburse you after you buy, so it is worth calling your insurer to ask. If they say yes, we are happy to provide an invoice and proof of purchase so you can file for reimbursement.

Notice to Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries. Medicare pays for equipment only when the supplier has a Medicare supplier number. Heavy Duty Mobility does not have one, so Medicare will not pay for anything we sell you. You are personally and fully responsible for payment.

What comes with the Ranger Quattro?
  • Two 24V 10Ah lithium batteries
  • 5A fast charger
  • Padded travel bag

If you want to check the box contents before you buy, call us and we will confirm them.

How long until my Ranger Quattro arrives?

The Ranger Quattro ships from Porto Mobility. Porto quotes delivery in about 1 to 5 business days for models in stock, and we email you the expected ship date after you order. If you need it by a certain day, call us before you buy and we will check the timing.

Will I get tracking?

Yes. As soon as your order ships we email you a tracking link so you can follow it to your door.

Can I return the Ranger Quattro?

Yes, within 30 days of delivery, as long as it comes back in new condition in its original boxes with all of its parts. A 15% restocking fee applies. You prepay the return shipping, and the original shipping charges are not refunded, so keep the boxes until you are sure. Items sold as open box cannot be returned.

Warranty problems are handled separately and do not count as a return. Please read the full returns policy for the details.

How does the Quattro fold?

Porto lists the folded Quattro at 24.4 x 29.1 x 13.2 in. Take the batteries out before you lift it so you are handling the 50 lb frame on its own. Our team can walk you through the fold by phone before your first trip.

How do the controls work?

The joystick responds to light finger pressure and mounts on the left or right armrest. It can also go on the backrest so a caregiver can drive from behind. A freewheel lever lets the chair be pushed by hand when the power is off.

How long does charging take?

The included 5A charger refills both batteries in about 2 hours. The two packs discharge together, so you charge them as a pair. Extra batteries are available by phone if you want a third pack for longer days.

Where can I ride the Quattro?

Porto rates it for slopes up to 25 degrees. Take any slope slowly and straight on, never across it. It turns in a 33 in radius for tight indoor spaces. Porto mentions an IPX4 splash rating, which means light splashes and not heavy rain or standing water.

Will it fit in my car?

Folded, the Quattro measures 24.4 x 29.1 x 13.2 in. With the batteries removed you lift the 50 lb frame. Measure your trunk opening and floor before ordering, and call us if you want help checking a specific vehicle.

Can I fly or cruise with it?

Porto describes the Quattro as made for airline and cruise travel. It runs on two 24V 10Ah lithium batteries. Confirm the battery rules with your airline or cruise line before you book, since each carrier sets its own policy.

Is Porto Mobility a good brand?

Porto Mobility designs and sells folding power wheelchairs, lightweight folding mobility scooters and portable chair lifts. Its Ranger chairs fold small enough for a car trunk or SUV cargo area, on carbon fiber or aluminum alloy frames depending on the model, and Porto publishes a weight capacity for each chair, scooter and lift.

Porto's standard warranty covers the frame for 3 years and the electronics and batteries for 1 year, and some models carry different terms. When a covered part fails, Porto sends the replacement part and connects you with a local service provider. As an authorized dealer we stay your first point of contact and take the claim to Porto's technical team for you.

How is my chair delivered?

Delivery to your curb is free. Check the packaging and the chair before you sign for it, and call 1-888-233-5563 if anything looks wrong.

Can I pay over time?

Yes. Choose Klarna at checkout to pay over time. See how financing works.

Can I talk to someone before I buy?

Yes. Call 1-888-233-5563. Real people answer, business hours and weekends.
