Overview

Porto Mobility Ranger Carbon folding power wheelchair, rear view with backrest pouch

The Ranger Carbon is a T700 carbon fiber folding power wheelchair that weighs 34 lbs without batteries and carries riders up to 300 lbs. It comes with two 24V 6Ah lithium batteries, holds a third for up to 30 miles of range and drives at an adjustable 4.5 mph with remote control.

The Ranger Carbon sits between the Aero and the SpacePro in Porto's carbon fiber line. It weighs 34 lbs with the batteries out and is rated for 300 lbs, which is 35 lbs more than the Aero can carry. The seat is 19 in wide.

Two 180W brushless motors drive the chair at up to 4.5 mph, and you can turn the top speed down. The battery bay holds up to three 24V 6Ah lithium packs. Two come with the chair, and Porto rates it at up to 30 miles with the optional third installed. The chair also works with a remote control.

Who the Ranger Carbon Suits

The Ranger Carbon suits a rider up to 300 lbs who wants a carbon fiber frame under 35 lbs. The third battery slot is worth using when your days out run long.

How It Compares

Against the Aero, the Ranger Carbon adds 8 lbs and 35 lbs of capacity, and it can carry a third battery. If you need more than 300 lbs of capacity or a steeper climbing rating, the SpacePro carries 400 lbs, weighs 43 lbs and is rated for 25 degree grades against 15 degrees here.

Warranty

What does the Ranger Carbon warranty cover?

The Ranger Carbon is covered by Porto Mobility's standard warranty, since Porto does not list separate terms for this model. Those standard terms cover the frame for 3 years and the electronics and batteries for 1 year.

Porto does not cover damage from abuse, such as taking it through deep water or dropping it. When a covered part fails, Porto sends the replacement part and connects you with a local service provider for the repair. If something goes wrong, contact us first and we will take the claim to Porto's technical team for you.

How much does the Ranger Carbon wheelchair weigh?

The Ranger Carbon weighs 34 lbs without batteries on a T700 carbon fiber frame and carries riders up to 300 lbs. Porto rates it for up to 30 miles with an optional third battery fitted.

Can I take the Ranger Carbon wheelchair on a plane?

Each battery is rated 24V and 6Ah, which works out to 144 watt hours. The chair comes with two and holds three. Airlines set their own limits on lithium batteries and on how many spares you can carry, so tell your airline the figure and the count before you book.

What is the difference between the Ranger Carbon and the Ranger Aero?

Both use T700 carbon fiber, two 180W brushless motors and 24V 6Ah batteries, with a top speed of up to 4.5 mph. The Aero weighs 26 lbs without batteries and carries 265 lbs. The Ranger Carbon weighs 34 lbs, carries 300 lbs and takes a third battery. Porto publishes folded measurements for the Aero but not yet for the Ranger Carbon.

How do I order the Ranger Carbon?

Add it to your cart on this page and check out, which takes a few minutes. You can pay in full or choose Klarna to spread the cost over monthly payments.

Can I order the Ranger Carbon over the phone?

Yes. Call 1-888-233-5563 and we will place the order with you. All we need is your payment method and your shipping address. Extra batteries and other Porto accessories can be added to a phone order.

Does Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance help pay for the Ranger Carbon?

We do not work with Medicare and we do not bill private insurance directly. Some private plans will reimburse you after you buy, so it is worth calling your insurer to ask. If they say yes, we are happy to provide an invoice and proof of purchase so you can file for reimbursement.

Notice to Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries. Medicare pays for equipment only when the supplier has a Medicare supplier number. Heavy Duty Mobility does not have one, so Medicare will not pay for anything we sell you. You are personally and fully responsible for payment.

What comes with the Ranger Carbon?
  • Two 24V 6Ah lithium batteries

If you want to check the box contents before you buy, call us and we will confirm them.

How long until my Ranger Carbon arrives?

The Ranger Carbon ships from Porto Mobility. Porto quotes delivery in about 1 to 5 business days for models in stock, and we email you the expected ship date after you order. If you need it by a certain day, call us before you buy and we will check the timing.

Will I get tracking?

Yes. As soon as your order ships we email you a tracking link so you can follow it to your door.

Can I return the Ranger Carbon?

Yes, within 30 days of delivery, as long as it comes back in new condition in its original boxes with all of its parts. A 15% restocking fee applies. You prepay the return shipping, and the original shipping charges are not refunded, so keep the boxes until you are sure. Items sold as open box cannot be returned.

Warranty problems are handled separately and do not count as a return. Please read the full returns policy for the details.

How do I drive the Ranger Carbon?

You steer with a detachable joystick that moves in any direction, and the top speed can be set anywhere up to 4.5 mph. The chair also supports remote control, and the brakes are electromagnetic.

How many batteries does it use?

The chair comes with two 24V 6Ah lithium batteries and has room for a third. Porto rates the range at up to 30 miles with all three installed. Extra batteries are available by phone.

Where can I ride it?

It is rated for slopes up to 15 degrees with 3.9 in of ground clearance, so it is suited to sidewalks, indoor floors and paved paths. Take ramps and curb cuts slowly and head on, and avoid loose or deep surfaces. Porto does not publish a water resistance rating, so keep the chair out of rain and standing water.

Will it fit in my car?

Porto has not published folded measurements for this model. Call us and we will confirm the folded size before you plan around a small trunk. With the batteries out you are lifting 34 lbs.

Can I fly with it?

Each battery is a 24V 6Ah lithium pack. Airlines and cruise lines set their own limits on lithium batteries and on how many spares you can carry, so confirm with your carrier before you book.

Is Porto Mobility a good brand?

Porto Mobility designs and sells folding power wheelchairs, lightweight folding mobility scooters and portable chair lifts. Its Ranger chairs fold small enough for a car trunk or SUV cargo area, on carbon fiber or aluminum alloy frames depending on the model, and Porto publishes a weight capacity for each chair, scooter and lift.

Porto's standard warranty covers the frame for 3 years and the electronics and batteries for 1 year, and some models carry different terms. When a covered part fails, Porto sends the replacement part and connects you with a local service provider. As an authorized dealer we stay your first point of contact and take the claim to Porto's technical team for you.

How is my chair delivered?

Delivery to your curb is free. Check the packaging and the chair before you sign for it, and call 1-888-233-5563 if anything looks wrong.

Can I pay over time?

Yes. Choose Klarna at checkout to pay over time. See how financing works.

Can I talk to someone before I buy?

Yes. Call 1-888-233-5563. Real people answer, business hours and weekends.
