Overview

Porto Mobility Ranger Magnum folding power wheelchair with controller armrest swung back, angled front view

The Ranger Magnum is a heavy duty folding power wheelchair rated for 660 lbs, with a 22 in wide seat, and 24 and 26 in seats are available by phone. Dual 350W brushless motors reach up to 5 mph, two 24V lithium batteries cover up to 18 miles, and the chair weighs 89 lbs without batteries.

The Magnum carries a 660 lb rating and still folds down to 26 x 14.2 x 35 in for transport. The chair sold on this page has a 22 in seat. Porto also builds it with a 24 or 26 in seat, which we can order by phone, and each size has a 20 in seat depth with a 2.5 in memory foam cushion. The flip up armrests are built to bear weight when you push up from the seat.

Two 350W brushless motors, 700W combined, drive the chair through a 960W controller. The front fork has dual spring suspension, retractable anti tip wheels sit at the back, and the solid tires (8.5 in front, 13.5 in rear) never need air.

Who the Magnum Suits

The Magnum is for riders above the 440 lb limit of the Quattro XXL and Discovery XXL who still want a chair that folds for a van or SUV. At 89 lbs without batteries and 98 lbs with them, plan on a ramp, a vehicle lift or a second person to help load it.

How It Compares

The Magnum and The Beast are the two heavy duty chairs in this group. The Magnum is rated higher at 660 lbs against 500, comes in three seat widths and runs on solid tires. The Beast is faster at up to 6 mph and uses 400W motors with pneumatic tires and 6 point suspension. It also charges in about 2 hours where the Magnum needs about 12. Both frames weigh about 90 lbs without batteries.

Warranty

What does the Ranger Magnum warranty cover?

The Ranger Magnum is covered by Porto Mobility's standard warranty, since Porto does not list separate terms for this model. Those standard terms cover the frame for 3 years and the electronics and batteries for 1 year.

Porto does not cover damage from abuse, such as taking it through deep water or dropping it. When a covered part fails, Porto sends the replacement part and connects you with a local service provider for the repair. If something goes wrong, contact us first and we will take the claim to Porto's technical team for you.

How much weight can the Ranger Magnum hold?

Porto rates the Ranger Magnum for riders up to 660 lbs. The standard seat is 22 in wide and 20 in deep, and 24 and 26 in seats are available by phone. The chair weighs 89 lbs without batteries and 98 lbs with them.

What batteries does the Ranger Magnum use?

The Magnum runs on two 24V 14Ah semi solid lithium batteries, which Porto rates for up to 18 miles. A full charge takes about 12 hours with the 2A charger, so plan to charge overnight.

Can I take the Ranger Magnum on a plane?

Each battery is rated 24V and 14Ah, which works out to 336 watt hours. Porto's Magnum listing makes no airline statement, so ask your airline whether it accepts batteries of that size before you book.

Does the Ranger Magnum fold?

The Magnum folds to 26 x 14.2 x 35 in (L x W x H). Because it weighs 89 lbs without batteries, plan on a ramp, a lift such as the Porto Stron or a helper to load it.

How do I order the Ranger Magnum?

Add it to your cart on this page and check out, which takes a few minutes. You can pay in full or choose Klarna to spread the cost over monthly payments.

Can I order the Ranger Magnum over the phone?

Yes. Call 1-888-233-5563 and we will place the order with you. All we need is your payment method and your shipping address. Extra batteries and other Porto accessories can be added to a phone order.

Does Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance help pay for the Ranger Magnum?

We do not work with Medicare and we do not bill private insurance directly. Some private plans will reimburse you after you buy, so it is worth calling your insurer to ask. If they say yes, we are happy to provide an invoice and proof of purchase so you can file for reimbursement.

Notice to Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries. Medicare pays for equipment only when the supplier has a Medicare supplier number. Heavy Duty Mobility does not have one, so Medicare will not pay for anything we sell you. You are personally and fully responsible for payment.

What comes with the Ranger Magnum?

Call us before you buy and we will confirm exactly what comes in the box.

How long until my Ranger Magnum arrives?

The Ranger Magnum ships from Porto Mobility. Porto quotes delivery in about 1 to 5 business days for models in stock, and we email you the expected ship date after you order. If you need it by a certain day, call us before you buy and we will check the timing.

Will I get tracking?

Yes. As soon as your order ships we email you a tracking link so you can follow it to your door.

Can I return the Ranger Magnum?

Yes, within 30 days of delivery, as long as it comes back in new condition in its original boxes with all of its parts. A 15% restocking fee applies. You prepay the return shipping, and the original shipping charges are not refunded, so keep the boxes until you are sure. Items sold as open box cannot be returned.

Warranty problems are handled separately and do not count as a return. Please read the full returns policy for the details.

How does the Magnum fold?

Folded, the Magnum measures 26 x 14.2 x 35 in. Remove the batteries first, which brings the weight down from 98 lbs to 89 lbs. Even so, plan on a ramp, a lift or two people to load it. We can walk you through the fold by phone.

How do the controls work?

The digital joystick is reversible, so it mounts on the right or left side to suit your stronger hand. Intelligent electromagnetic brakes stop the chair when you return the stick to center.

How long does charging take?

Porto lists about 12 hours for a full charge with the 2A charger, so plan on charging overnight. Extra batteries are available by phone if you want a spare pair ready to go.

Where can I ride the Magnum?

Porto rates the Magnum for slopes up to 8 degrees, so take ramps slowly and straight on and avoid anything steeper. The dual spring front fork, 3.75 in ground clearance and retractable anti tip wheels help on uneven pavement. The turning radius is 35.4 in. Porto does not publish a water resistance rating, so keep the chair out of rain and standing water.

Will it fit in my vehicle?

Folded, it measures 26 x 14.2 x 35 in and weighs 89 lbs without batteries. Measure your cargo area against that size, and plan on a ramp, a vehicle lift such as the Porto Stron, or a helper for the weight. Call us and we can talk through loading options for your vehicle.

Can I fly with it?

Porto's listing for the Magnum does not describe the batteries as airline compliant. They are two 24V 14Ah semi solid lithium packs. Give your airline those figures and confirm their rules well before you book.

Is Porto Mobility a good brand?

Porto Mobility designs and sells folding power wheelchairs, lightweight folding mobility scooters and portable chair lifts. Its Ranger chairs fold small enough for a car trunk or SUV cargo area, on carbon fiber or aluminum alloy frames depending on the model, and Porto publishes a weight capacity for each chair, scooter and lift.

Porto's standard warranty covers the frame for 3 years and the electronics and batteries for 1 year, and some models carry different terms. When a covered part fails, Porto sends the replacement part and connects you with a local service provider. As an authorized dealer we stay your first point of contact and take the claim to Porto's technical team for you.

How is my chair delivered?

Delivery to your curb is free. Check the packaging and the chair before you sign for it, and call 1-888-233-5563 if anything looks wrong.

Can I pay over time?

Yes. Choose Klarna at checkout to pay over time. See how financing works.

Can I talk to someone before I buy?

Yes. Call 1-888-233-5563. Real people answer, business hours and weekends.
