Overview

Porto Mobility Ranger Quattro XXL folding power wheelchair, side view with joystick armrest raised

The Ranger Quattro XXL is the widest chair in the Quattro family, with a 24 in seat and a 440 lb weight capacity. It keeps the dual 300W motors, a top speed of up to 6 mph and up to 20 miles of range, and the frame weighs 58 lbs without its two batteries.

Porto built the Quattro XXL for larger riders who still want a chair that folds. The seat measures 24 x 17 in and sits 21 in off the ground, and the backrest adjusts in height. The open chair is 26.5 in wide, so measure the doorways you use most before you order.

Two 300W brushless motors, 600W combined, drive the rear wheels through a 40 amp controller. That is the same drive system as the smaller Quattro models. Each 24V 10Ah lithium battery weighs 4 lbs, and the pair recharges in about 2 hours on the 5A charger. The seat and backrest covers come off for washing.

Key Features

  • Rated for riders up to 440 lbs
  • 24 x 17 in seat at a 21 in seat height
  • Height adjustable backrest with washable seat and backrest covers
  • Dual 300W brushless rear motors, 600W combined, with a top speed of up to 6 mph
  • Up to 20 miles on two batteries, or up to 30 miles with a third battery
  • About 2 hours to recharge with the 5A charger
  • Freewheel mode so a caregiver can push the chair by hand
  • Joystick mounts on either armrest or on the backrest

Who the Quattro XXL Suits

The XXL is for a rider between 400 and 440 lbs, or anyone who needs a 24 in seat, who wants that room without moving to a much heavier frame. It weighs 58 lbs without batteries. The Ranger Magnum and Ranger The Beast carry more weight, but their frames come in at 89 and 90 lbs.

How It Compares

Against the Quattro XL, the XXL weighs the same 58 lbs and uses the same motors, but the seat grows to 24 in and the rating rises from 400 to 440 lbs. Overall width goes from 25.2 in to 26.5 in. The Ranger Discovery XXL also pairs a 24 in seat with a 440 lb rating. It weighs 8 lbs less, and the Quattro XXL answers with stronger 300W motors, 6 mph and up to 20 miles of range.

Warranty

What does the Ranger Quattro XXL warranty cover?

Porto covers the Quattro XXL frame for 4 years and the motors for 2 years. The controller and the batteries are covered for 1 year.

Porto does not cover damage from abuse, such as taking it through deep water or dropping it. When a covered part fails, Porto sends the replacement part and connects you with a local service provider for the repair. If something goes wrong, contact us first and we will take the claim to Porto's technical team for you.

How wide is the Ranger Quattro XXL?

The seat is 24 in wide and 17 in deep, and the chair measures 26.5 in across overall. Porto rates the Quattro XXL for riders up to 440 lbs.

What is the difference between the Ranger Quattro XL and XXL?

The XXL has a 24 in seat and carries 440 lbs. The XL has a 19 in seat with 21.5 in between the armrests and carries 400 lbs. Both weigh 58 lbs without batteries, have a height adjustable backrest and go up to 20 miles on two batteries. Porto lists the XXL charge time as about 2 hours with the 5A charger, against about 4 hours for the XL.

Can I take the Ranger Quattro XXL on a plane?

The Quattro XXL batteries are 24V 10Ah, or 240 watt hours each. Porto's listing makes no airline statement for this model, so ask your airline whether it accepts batteries of that size before you book.

How do I order the Ranger Quattro XXL?

Add it to your cart on this page and check out, which takes a few minutes. You can pay in full or choose Klarna to spread the cost over monthly payments.

Can I order the Ranger Quattro XXL over the phone?

Yes. Call 1-888-233-5563 and we will place the order with you. All we need is your payment method and your shipping address. Extra batteries and other Porto accessories can be added to a phone order.

Does Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance help pay for the Ranger Quattro XXL?

We do not work with Medicare and we do not bill private insurance directly. Some private plans will reimburse you after you buy, so it is worth calling your insurer to ask. If they say yes, we are happy to provide an invoice and proof of purchase so you can file for reimbursement.

Notice to Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries. Medicare pays for equipment only when the supplier has a Medicare supplier number. Heavy Duty Mobility does not have one, so Medicare will not pay for anything we sell you. You are personally and fully responsible for payment.

What comes with the Ranger Quattro XXL?
  • Padded travel bag

If you want to check the box contents before you buy, call us and we will confirm them.

How long until my Ranger Quattro XXL arrives?

The Ranger Quattro XXL ships from Porto Mobility. Porto quotes delivery in about 1 to 5 business days for models in stock, and we email you the expected ship date after you order. If you need it by a certain day, call us before you buy and we will check the timing.

Will I get tracking?

Yes. As soon as your order ships we email you a tracking link so you can follow it to your door.

Can I return the Ranger Quattro XXL?

Yes, within 30 days of delivery, as long as it comes back in new condition in its original boxes with all of its parts. A 15% restocking fee applies. You prepay the return shipping, and the original shipping charges are not refunded, so keep the boxes until you are sure. Items sold as open box cannot be returned.

Warranty problems are handled separately and do not count as a return. Please read the full returns policy for the details.

How does the Quattro XXL fold?

Porto lists the folded XXL at 25.2 x 29.1 x 13.2 in, the same package as the Quattro XL. Pull the two 4 lb batteries first so you are lifting the 58 lb frame on its own. We can walk you through the fold by phone.

How do the controls work?

The joystick mounts on the left armrest, the right armrest or the backrest. On the backrest a caregiver can drive from behind. Freewheel mode disengages the motors so the chair can be pushed by hand.

How long does charging take?

About 2 hours with the 5A charger. Two batteries give up to 20 miles, and extra batteries are available by phone if you want a third pack for up to 30 miles.

Where can I ride the Quattro XXL?

Porto rates it for slopes up to 25 degrees. Take any slope slowly and straight on, never across it. It turns in a 33 in radius, ground clearance adjusts from 2.5 to 3.5 in, and the puncture free tires will not go flat. Porto does not publish a water resistance rating for the XXL, so keep it out of rain and standing water.

Will it fit in my car?

Folded, it measures 25.2 x 29.1 x 13.2 in, and the frame weighs 58 lbs without batteries. It comes with a padded travel bag. Measure your trunk or cargo area first, and call us if you want help checking a vehicle.

Can I fly with it?

Porto's listing for the Quattro XXL does not describe the batteries as airline compliant. Each one is a 24V 10Ah lithium pack, so share those figures with your airline and confirm their rules before you book.

Is Porto Mobility a good brand?

Porto Mobility designs and sells folding power wheelchairs, lightweight folding mobility scooters and portable chair lifts. Its Ranger chairs fold small enough for a car trunk or SUV cargo area, on carbon fiber or aluminum alloy frames depending on the model, and Porto publishes a weight capacity for each chair, scooter and lift.

Porto's standard warranty covers the frame for 3 years and the electronics and batteries for 1 year, and some models carry different terms. When a covered part fails, Porto sends the replacement part and connects you with a local service provider. As an authorized dealer we stay your first point of contact and take the claim to Porto's technical team for you.

How is my chair delivered?

Delivery to your curb is free. Check the packaging and the chair before you sign for it, and call 1-888-233-5563 if anything looks wrong.

Can I pay over time?

Yes. Choose Klarna at checkout to pay over time. See how financing works.

Can I talk to someone before I buy?

Yes. Call 1-888-233-5563. Real people answer, business hours and weekends.
