Overview

Porto Mobility Ranger Maestro reclining folding power wheelchair, angled rear view from the left

The Ranger Maestro is a folding power wheelchair with a reclining backrest, a 19 x 18 in seat and a 440 lb weight capacity. It weighs 50 lbs without batteries, reaches 5 mph on dual 250W motors and covers up to 18 miles on two 3.5 lb lithium batteries.

The Maestro adds a reclining backrest to a folding power chair that still weighs only 50 lbs without batteries. A lever on the side of the chair releases the backrest so you can change its angle. The seat is 19 in wide and 18 in deep, set 20 in off the ground, with the armrests at 28 in.

Two 250W brushless motors and intelligent electromagnetic brakes handle the driving. The two 24V 6Ah lithium batteries weigh 3.5 lbs each, and Porto describes them as airline compliant. Folded, the Maestro measures 13 x 24 x 31 in.

Key Features

  • Reclining backrest with a side mounted release lever
  • Rated for riders up to 440 lbs
  • 19 x 18 in seat at a 20 in seat height
  • 50 lbs without batteries, and each battery weighs 3.5 lbs
  • Dual 250W brushless motors with a 5 mph top speed
  • Up to 18 miles on two 24V 6Ah lithium batteries
  • Puncture free polyurethane tires, 8 in front and 12.5 in rear

Reclining Backrest

The backrest reclines with a lever on the side of the chair, so you can sit back during a long wait or a rest stop and return upright when it is time to drive. It is the main reason to pick the Maestro over a fixed back folding chair of similar weight.

How It Compares

The Maestro and Maestro XL both recline and both carry 440 lbs. The standard Maestro has a 19 in seat at 20 in high and weighs 50 lbs without batteries. The XL widens the seat to 21 in, raises it to 21 in, adds under seat storage and weighs 52 lbs. Motors, range and top speed are the same on both.

Warranty

What does the Ranger Maestro warranty cover?

Porto covers the Maestro frame for 3 years. The motors, the batteries and the controller are covered for 1 year.

Porto does not cover damage from abuse, such as taking it through deep water or dropping it. When a covered part fails, Porto sends the replacement part and connects you with a local service provider for the repair. If something goes wrong, contact us first and we will take the claim to Porto's technical team for you.

Does the Ranger Maestro recline?

Yes, the Maestro backrest reclines with a lever on the side of the chair. Porto does not list a recline angle for the Maestro. If you want a stated angle, the Ranger SpacePro Recliner reclines to 130 degrees.

What is the difference between the Ranger Maestro and the Maestro XL?

The Maestro has a 19 in seat set 20 in from the ground and weighs 50 lbs without batteries. The Maestro XL has a 21 in seat set 21 in from the ground, weighs 52 lbs and adds under seat storage. Both recline, carry 440 lbs and go up to 18 miles.

Can I take the Ranger Maestro on a plane?

Porto describes the Maestro batteries as airline compliant. Each is rated 24V and 6Ah, which works out to 144 watt hours, so give your airline that figure and confirm their rules before you book.

How do I order the Ranger Maestro?

Add it to your cart on this page and check out, which takes a few minutes. You can pay in full or choose Klarna to spread the cost over monthly payments.

Can I order the Ranger Maestro over the phone?

Yes. Call 1-888-233-5563 and we will place the order with you. All we need is your payment method and your shipping address. Extra batteries and other Porto accessories can be added to a phone order.

Does Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance help pay for the Ranger Maestro?

We do not work with Medicare and we do not bill private insurance directly. Some private plans will reimburse you after you buy, so it is worth calling your insurer to ask. If they say yes, we are happy to provide an invoice and proof of purchase so you can file for reimbursement.

Notice to Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries. Medicare pays for equipment only when the supplier has a Medicare supplier number. Heavy Duty Mobility does not have one, so Medicare will not pay for anything we sell you. You are personally and fully responsible for payment.

What comes with the Ranger Maestro?

Call us before you buy and we will confirm exactly what comes in the box.

How long until my Ranger Maestro arrives?

The Ranger Maestro ships from Porto Mobility. Porto quotes delivery in about 1 to 5 business days for models in stock, and we email you the expected ship date after you order. If you need it by a certain day, call us before you buy and we will check the timing.

Will I get tracking?

Yes. As soon as your order ships we email you a tracking link so you can follow it to your door.

Can I return the Ranger Maestro?

Yes, within 30 days of delivery, as long as it comes back in new condition in its original boxes with all of its parts. A 15% restocking fee applies. You prepay the return shipping, and the original shipping charges are not refunded, so keep the boxes until you are sure. Items sold as open box cannot be returned.

Warranty problems are handled separately and do not count as a return. Please read the full returns policy for the details.

How do I recline the backrest?

Pull the lever on the side of the chair to release the backrest, lean back to the angle you want and let go of the lever to hold it there. Sit upright again before you drive.

How does the Maestro fold?

Folded, it measures 13 x 24 x 31 in. Take the two 3.5 lb batteries out first so you are lifting the 50 lb frame on its own. We can walk you through the fold by phone.

How do I charge it?

The two 24V 6Ah lithium batteries weigh 3.5 lbs each, so you can carry them indoors to charge. Extra batteries are available by phone.

Where can I ride the Maestro?

Porto rates it for slopes up to 25 degrees. Take any slope slowly and straight on with the backrest upright. It clears 3.7 in, turns in a 33 in radius and rides on puncture free tires. Porto does not publish a water resistance rating for the Maestro, so keep it out of rain and standing water.

Will it fit in my car?

Folded, the Maestro measures 13 x 24 x 31 in and the frame weighs 50 lbs without batteries. Measure your trunk opening and floor, and call us if you want help checking a specific vehicle.

Can I fly with it?

Porto describes the Maestro batteries as airline compliant. They are two 24V 6Ah lithium packs. Confirm with your airline before you book, since each carrier sets its own battery rules.

Is Porto Mobility a good brand?

Porto Mobility designs and sells folding power wheelchairs, lightweight folding mobility scooters and portable chair lifts. Its Ranger chairs fold small enough for a car trunk or SUV cargo area, on carbon fiber or aluminum alloy frames depending on the model, and Porto publishes a weight capacity for each chair, scooter and lift.

Porto's standard warranty covers the frame for 3 years and the electronics and batteries for 1 year, and some models carry different terms. When a covered part fails, Porto sends the replacement part and connects you with a local service provider. As an authorized dealer we stay your first point of contact and take the claim to Porto's technical team for you.

How is my chair delivered?

Delivery to your curb is free. Check the packaging and the chair before you sign for it, and call 1-888-233-5563 if anything looks wrong.

Can I pay over time?

Yes. Choose Klarna at checkout to pay over time. See how financing works.

Can I talk to someone before I buy?

Yes. Call 1-888-233-5563. Real people answer, business hours and weekends.
