The Avid by Merits Vector HD P323 is the super heavy duty member of the Avid Rehab lineup. It is a complex rehab mid wheel drive power base engineered for riders up to 450 lb who need real positioning hardware rather than a basic captain seat chair. The powerbase carries HCPCS codes K0850 K0858 and K0862 and pairs dual in line 4 pole motors with full front and rear coil suspension so heavier riders keep traction and comfort over thresholds ramps and rough sidewalks.
Six wheels stay on the ground at all times. The 14 x 3 inch foam filled drive wheels sit directly under the rider with widened 8 x 3 inch casters front and rear for stability at capacity. Because the drive wheels are centered the Vector HD spins within a 27 inch turning radius which is remarkable agility for a 450 lb rated base and makes tight hallways bathrooms and elevators workable.
Seating is where the Vector HD separates itself from consumer heavy duty chairs. The rehab seat frame adjusts from 20 to 24 inches wide and 16 to 22 inches deep and it accepts power tilt up to 50 degrees power recline from 90 to 150 degrees a 12 inch power seat elevator and power elevating legrests. Pressure management options such as Deep contour cushions and Gel Ovations components can be specified when the chair is built.

Key safety notes. Respect the 450 lb weight capacity and the 6 degree rated gradient. Drive with the seat lowered and upright when on slopes since tilt recline and elevation change the center of gravity. Foam filled tires cannot go flat but should be inspected for wear. Read the owner manual before first use and have a trained provider complete final seating adjustments.
Charging is simple. The included 6 amp off board charger plugs into the joystick or controller port and recharges the two 22NF MK batteries overnight. Charge after each day of use to protect battery life and expect up to 12.5 miles per full charge depending on rider weight terrain and seating functions used.
Daily driving happens through the joystick on either the VR2 or R-NET controller with speed dial adjustment down to indoor creep speeds. Power seat functions run from the joystick module or a dedicated toggle depending on configuration so riders can tilt recline or elevate without caregiver help.

I needed a mobility scooter that was auto-folding, but not overly engineered where problems can arise, was not too heavy to lift by myself, would easily fit in the trunk of my car, and not be overly expensive. Wishful thinking I thought. Until I discovered the MOJO on my computer. This scooter ticked all my boxes, and more. It is comfortable, well built, is easy to charge the batteries without having to bend down to remove them, and even if you do want to remove them they are accessible from the standing position. the tiller is fully adjustable as are the arm rests, the folding/unfolding functions are easily initiated, and the axle release is easily achieved. A well engineered piece of kit. Now, for the customer service: I can honestly say that I have never come across anything like it; it is absolutely perfect. The gentleman I dealt with 'bent over backwards' to help me without pressuring me into a purchase, and to ensure I was buying a scooter that was right for me. Because I live in New Zealand I knew I was creating a lot more work for him, but he never complained. This and my MOJO are very much appreciated.
