The Tote Model 003 is the entry point in the WheelChair Carrier lineup and it does one job well. It rides on the back of your vehicle and totes a folded manual wheelchair so the chair never eats up trunk or cargo space. The frame is all steel, protected with an e coat base layer and a black powder finish, and the whole carrier weighs just 16 pounds while handling folding chairs up to 75 pounds and up to 15.5 inches wide when closed.
Unlike lifts and tilting carriers, the Tote is a fixed cradle. You fold the chair, lift it onto the twin steel rails, and lock it in place with the padded hold down arm and cam buckle strap. There are no motors, wiring harnesses, pumps, or pivots to maintain, which is exactly why this model costs a fraction of a powered lift.
Installation is refreshingly simple. The Tote bolts directly onto any ball mount or drawbar on a Class I, II or III hitch, so it works with nearly any car, SUV, van, or truck that already has a hitch. It is made in the USA by WheelChair Carrier of Lambertville, Michigan and backed by a 3 year warranty.

WheelChair Carrier offers the Model 550 Front Saddle as a factory accessory for the Tote 003 and the Tilt n Tote 001. It adds a second support saddle at the front of the cradle for extra stability on rough roads and longer trips, and it ships with all mounting hardware included. Around 150 dollars from the factory, ask us to add it to your quote.

Most products in this range do not meet the strict medical device rules that Medicare and Medicaid use, so they rarely qualify for coverage. We do not work with Medicare and we do not bill private insurance directly.
Some private plans will reimburse you outside of the Medicare framework. The best way to find out is to call your insurer and ask. If they say yes, we are happy to provide an invoice and proof of purchase so you can file for reimbursement.

Key safety notes. Never exceed the 75 pound chair capacity and confirm your folded chair is 15.5 inches wide or less. The carrier is for folding manual wheelchairs only, never a power chair or scooter. Always tension the hold down strap before driving and recheck it after the first few miles. Make sure your license plate and tail lights stay visible with the chair loaded, and follow your hitch maker's tongue weight rating.
Daily use is a three step routine. Fold the wheelchair, lift it onto the steel cradle rails, then swing the padded hold down arm over the frame and pull the cam buckle strap tight. Unloading is the same in reverse. Because the platform is stationary you do need enough strength to lift the chair roughly to bumper height, so if lifting is a concern consider the tilting Model 001 instead.
There is nothing to charge and nothing to plug in. The carrier stays bolted to your ball mount full time if you like, and the e coated powder finish is built to shrug off rain and road spray. The Tote does not fold flat against the vehicle, so plan a little extra length when parking or backing up. A quick strap check at every stop is the only maintenance habit you need.

You lift the folded chair, up to 75 pounds, to roughly bumper height and set it on the rails. Many users find a standard steel folding chair around 35 to 40 pounds easy to manage, but if lifting is difficult a tilting or electric model is the better choice.

I needed a mobility scooter that was auto-folding, but not overly engineered where problems can arise, was not too heavy to lift by myself, would easily fit in the trunk of my car, and not be overly expensive. Wishful thinking I thought. Until I discovered the MOJO on my computer. This scooter ticked all my boxes, and more. It is comfortable, well built, is easy to charge the batteries without having to bend down to remove them, and even if you do want to remove them they are accessible from the standing position. the tiller is fully adjustable as are the arm rests, the folding/unfolding functions are easily initiated, and the axle release is easily achieved. A well engineered piece of kit. Now, for the customer service: I can honestly say that I have never come across anything like it; it is absolutely perfect. The gentleman I dealt with 'bent over backwards' to help me without pressuring me into a purchase, and to ensure I was buying a scooter that was right for me. Because I live in New Zealand I knew I was creating a lot more work for him, but he never complained. This and my MOJO are very much appreciated. Found the type of Scooter. I wanted to buy online not everyone has the kind of scooter. I have . Talked to Raphael Perlmann about the scooter I wanted.
