The Shoprider XLR 14 is a mid wheel drive power wheelchair built around a 50 degree power tilt seating system, which puts genuine pressure relief and repositioning within reach of a joystick command instead of a caregiver transfer. It carries the K0835 and K0836 HCPCS designations, the codes Medicare uses for group 2 power chairs with a single power seating function, so it sits a clear step above basic travel power chairs.
Underneath, 14 inch solid drive wheels pair with four independently suspended casters, two in front and two in the rear, so the chair keeps six points of contact with the ground at all times. The self adjusting suspension soaks up thresholds, sidewalk seams and uneven yards while the mid wheel layout keeps the turning footprint tight enough for hallways and kitchens.
Range is where the XLR 14 separates itself from most tilt chairs in its class. The flip forward seat opens up a battery bay that accepts Shoprider Xtra Long Range battery groups, from 22NF packs good for around 18 miles up to Group 24 packs rated for as much as 27 miles on a charge. A 300 lb weight capacity, 2.75 inches of ground clearance and a 4.1 mph top speed round out a chair aimed at full day, everyday use.

Shoprider builds the XLR 14 to order with several factory seating and power options. A power seat elevate option raises the entire seat for reach and eye level conversation. Newer K0836 builds can combine power elevate, power recline and a powered Articulating Foot Platform in a single unit, and the joystick operated foot platform raises and lowers the legs to relieve pressure and encourage circulation while tilted.
Battery capacity is also chosen at order time. The chair accepts 22NF, Group 34 or Group 24 batteries, with rated range climbing from roughly 18 to 27 miles as the group size grows.
For clinical seating needs there is a dedicated rehab seating build, listed by Shoprider as the K0835 RS. It swaps the captain seat for a rehab back with 7/8 inch OD seat back cane tubing and a back mounted spreader bar set 4 inches deep, so backs, cushions, laterals and headrests from major seating and positioning manufacturers bolt straight on. Call us to spec any of these options before ordering.
Because the rehab seating version uses standard 7/8 inch back canes, the XLR 14 works with third party positioning hardware such as aftermarket backs, headrests, lateral supports and pressure relief cushions from the major seating brands. Shoprider also offers replacement Xtra Long Range battery sets in 22NF, Group 34 and Group 24 sizes plus the 8 amp off board charger as service parts. Key safety notes. Respect the 300 lb weight capacity and the 6 degree safe climbing angle. Keep the seat belt fastened whenever the tilt function is in use and return the seat to an upright position before driving on slopes. Charge only with the supplied 8 amp off board charger and read the full manual before first use.
Daily driving runs through a familiar armrest mounted joystick that controls speed, steering and the power seating functions. Top speed is a controlled 4.1 mph, which suits indoor spaces as well as sidewalks, and solid tires on all six wheels mean there is never a flat to patch.
Charging uses an 8 amp off board charger, so the charger can stay at home plugged in near your parking spot. The seat flips forward for direct access to the battery bay when service or a battery swap is needed.
The XLR 14 is a full size rehab chair, not a folding travel chair. At 265 lb before batteries it should travel in a van with a ramp or platform lift or on an exterior vehicle lift rated for its weight. The 24.8 inch overall width fits standard doorways and the 41 inch length keeps it maneuverable in elevators and accessible vehicles. Store and charge it indoors out of the weather.
The factory power tilt seating system provides 50 degrees of tilt, controlled from the joystick, which is enough for meaningful pressure redistribution and rest positioning through the day.

I needed a mobility scooter that was auto-folding, but not overly engineered where problems can arise, was not too heavy to lift by myself, would easily fit in the trunk of my car, and not be overly expensive. Wishful thinking I thought. Until I discovered the MOJO on my computer. This scooter ticked all my boxes, and more. It is comfortable, well built, is easy to charge the batteries without having to bend down to remove them, and even if you do want to remove them they are accessible from the standing position. the tiller is fully adjustable as are the arm rests, the folding/unfolding functions are easily initiated, and the axle release is easily achieved. A well engineered piece of kit. Now, for the customer service: I can honestly say that I have never come across anything like it; it is absolutely perfect. The gentleman I dealt with 'bent over backwards' to help me without pressuring me into a purchase, and to ensure I was buying a scooter that was right for me. Because I live in New Zealand I knew I was creating a lot more work for him, but he never complained. This and my MOJO are very much appreciated.
