Overview

Porto Mobility Ranger Super Lightweight Caregiver folding power wheelchair, joystick mounted on the push handle

The caregiver operated Ranger Super Lightweight is set up for a companion to drive. The aluminum frame weighs 41 lbs without batteries and 46 lbs ready to ride, it carries riders up to 265 lbs, and it reaches an adjustable 4 mph for up to 12 miles on one 24V 6Ah lithium battery.

This version of the Super Lightweight is for riders whose caregiver does the driving. The seat cushion is 16.5 in wide with 20 in between the armrests, and the chair is rated for riders up to 265 lbs on an aluminum alloy frame.

The battery loads from the top and slides into place with no cables to connect. One 24V 6Ah lithium battery gives up to about 12 miles, and Porto rates the chair at up to 18 miles with an optional second battery. Folded, the chair stands upright at 24 x 15 x 34 in, so it takes little floor space in a closet or garage.

What is the difference between the Ranger Super Lightweight Caregiver and the standard Super Lightweight?

Both have a 16.5 in seat, 20 in between the armrests and the same 24 x 15 x 34 in folded size. The Caregiver version is set up for a companion to drive, loads its battery from the top and reaches up to 4 mph against 4.5 mph on the standard chair. Porto lists it at 41 lbs without batteries against 43 lbs.

Can I take the Ranger Super Lightweight Caregiver on a plane?

The battery is a 24V 6Ah non spillable lithium ion pack, which works out to 144 watt hours. Each airline sets its own rules for mobility aid batteries, so give yours that figure and confirm before you book.

What warranty comes with the Ranger Super Lightweight Caregiver?

Porto covers the frame for 3 years and the motors for 1 year. The controller and batteries carry 6 months, shorter than the 1 year Porto gives on the standard Super Lightweight.

How do I order the Ranger Super Lightweight Caregiver?

Add it to your cart on this page and check out, which takes a few minutes. You can pay in full or choose Klarna to spread the cost over monthly payments.

Can I order the Ranger Super Lightweight Caregiver over the phone?

Yes. Call 1-888-233-5563 and we will place the order with you. All we need is your payment method and your shipping address. Extra batteries and other Porto accessories can be added to a phone order.

Does Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance help pay for the Ranger Super Lightweight Caregiver?

We do not work with Medicare and we do not bill private insurance directly. Some private plans will reimburse you after you buy, so it is worth calling your insurer to ask. If they say yes, we are happy to provide an invoice and proof of purchase so you can file for reimbursement.

Notice to Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries. Medicare pays for equipment only when the supplier has a Medicare supplier number. Heavy Duty Mobility does not have one, so Medicare will not pay for anything we sell you. You are personally and fully responsible for payment.

What comes with the Ranger Super Lightweight Caregiver?

Call us before you buy and we will confirm exactly what comes in the box.

How long until my Ranger Super Lightweight Caregiver arrives?

The Ranger Super Lightweight Caregiver ships from Porto Mobility. Porto quotes delivery in about 1 to 5 business days for models in stock, and we email you the expected ship date after you order. If you need it by a certain day, call us before you buy and we will check the timing.

Will I get tracking?

Yes. As soon as your order ships we email you a tracking link so you can follow it to your door.

Can I return the Ranger Super Lightweight Caregiver?

Yes, within 30 days of delivery, as long as it comes back in new condition in its original boxes with all of its parts. A 15% restocking fee applies. You prepay the return shipping, and the original shipping charges are not refunded, so keep the boxes until you are sure. Items sold as open box cannot be returned.

Warranty problems are handled separately and do not count as a return. Please read the full returns policy for the details.

How is the battery fitted?

The battery loads from the top of the chair and slides into place, with no cables to plug in. That makes it simple for a caregiver to swap or take it inside to charge.

How fast does it go?

Top speed is adjustable up to 4 mph. Set it to match the walking pace of the person driving, especially in stores and on crowded sidewalks. Treat 12 degrees as the slope limit, take ramps slowly and straight on, and keep the chair out of rain and standing water, since Porto publishes no water resistance rating for this model.

How far will it go on a charge?

Expect up to about 12 miles on one 24V 6Ah battery. Porto rates the chair at up to 18 miles with a second battery, and extra batteries are available by phone.

How does it fold and store?

The chair folds to 24 x 15 x 34 in and stands upright on its own when folded, so it can sit in a corner or closet instead of lying across the floor.

Will it fit in my car?

Folded, it measures 24 x 15 x 34 in and weighs 41 lbs with the battery out. Measure your trunk or cargo opening before ordering.

Can I fly with it?

The battery is a 24V 6Ah non spillable lithium ion pack. Airlines and cruise lines set their own rules for lithium batteries, so share that rating with your carrier and confirm before you book.

Is Porto Mobility a good brand?

Porto Mobility designs and sells folding power wheelchairs, lightweight folding mobility scooters and portable chair lifts. Its Ranger chairs fold small enough for a car trunk or SUV cargo area, on carbon fiber or aluminum alloy frames depending on the model, and Porto publishes a weight capacity for each chair, scooter and lift.

Porto's standard warranty covers the frame for 3 years and the electronics and batteries for 1 year, and some models carry different terms. When a covered part fails, Porto sends the replacement part and connects you with a local service provider. As an authorized dealer we stay your first point of contact and take the claim to Porto's technical team for you.

How is my chair delivered?

Delivery to your curb is free. Check the packaging and the chair before you sign for it, and call 1-888-233-5563 if anything looks wrong.

Can I pay over time?

Yes. Choose Klarna at checkout to pay over time. See how financing works.

Can I talk to someone before I buy?

Yes. Call 1-888-233-5563. Real people answer, business hours and weekends.
