Overview

Porto Mobility Ranger Dorsia folding power wheelchair, right side view

The Porto Mobility Ranger Dorsia is a T700 carbon fiber folding power wheelchair that weighs 30 lbs without its 3 lb battery. It carries up to 300 lbs, travels up to 15 miles at 4 mph and folds to 11 in deep. A remote control lets a companion take over the driving when needed.

The Dorsia's frame is T700 carbon fiber, which keeps the chair at 30 lbs before the battery goes in. Two 180W brushless motors drive the rear wheels from a single 24V 12Ah semi solid lithium battery, and a full charge takes about 6 hours.

The seat is 19.7 in wide and 18.5 in deep, with 20.5 in between the armrests and a seat height of 19.7 in. A 27.6 in turning radius helps in hallways and bathrooms, and the 7 in front and 8 in rear solid PU wheels never need air.

Key Features

  • Weighs 30 lbs without the battery, which adds 3 lbs
  • Carries up to 300 lbs
  • Travels up to 15 miles per charge at up to 4 mph
  • 19.7 in wide seat with 20.5 in between the armrests
  • Folds to 11 x 24.4 x 30.5 in
  • Two 180W brushless motors with rear wheel drive
  • Remote control lets a companion steer the chair
  • Intelligent electromagnetic brake

Remote Control

The Dorsia is set up for the rider to drive, and it also comes with a remote that works as a second control. That helps when someone traveling with you needs to take over for a while, or wants to move the chair for you.

How It Compares

Porto also sells a caregiver version of the Dorsia. The frame, motors, battery and measurements are the same. Choose the caregiver version if someone else will do most of the driving from behind the chair, and choose this one if you plan to drive yourself most of the time.

Warranty

What does the Ranger Dorsia warranty cover?

The Ranger Dorsia is covered by Porto Mobility's standard warranty, since Porto does not list separate terms for this model. Those standard terms cover the frame for 3 years and the electronics and batteries for 1 year.

Porto does not cover damage from abuse, such as taking it through deep water or dropping it. When a covered part fails, Porto sends the replacement part and connects you with a local service provider for the repair. If something goes wrong, contact us first and we will take the claim to Porto's technical team for you.

What battery does the Ranger Dorsia use and how long does it take to charge?

The Ranger Dorsia runs on one 24V 12Ah semi solid lithium battery that weighs 3 lbs. Porto lists a charging time of 6 hours and rates the chair for up to 15 miles per charge.

Can I take the Ranger Dorsia on a plane?

The battery is rated 24V and 12Ah, which works out to 288 watt hours. Porto's listing makes no airline statement for the Dorsia, and each airline sets its own limits for mobility aid batteries, so give your airline that figure and confirm it is accepted before you book.

How small does the Ranger Dorsia fold?

Folded, the Ranger Dorsia measures 11 x 24.4 x 30.5 in (L x W x H), and the frame weighs 30 lbs with the battery out. Open, it measures 38.2 x 24.4 x 39.2 in.

What is the difference between the Ranger Dorsia and the Dorsia Caregiver?

Porto lists the same frame, battery and measurements for both chairs. This Dorsia has rider control plus a remote a companion can use. The Dorsia Caregiver is Porto's caregiver control version, and because Porto does not publish its exact control layout, we confirm it with Porto for you before you order.

How do I order the Ranger Dorsia?

Add it to your cart on this page and check out, which takes a few minutes. You can pay in full or choose Klarna to spread the cost over monthly payments.

Can I order the Ranger Dorsia over the phone?

Yes. Call 1-888-233-5563 and we will place the order with you. All we need is your payment method and your shipping address. Extra batteries and other Porto accessories can be added to a phone order.

Does Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance help pay for the Ranger Dorsia?

We do not work with Medicare and we do not bill private insurance directly. Some private plans will reimburse you after you buy, so it is worth calling your insurer to ask. If they say yes, we are happy to provide an invoice and proof of purchase so you can file for reimbursement.

Notice to Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries. Medicare pays for equipment only when the supplier has a Medicare supplier number. Heavy Duty Mobility does not have one, so Medicare will not pay for anything we sell you. You are personally and fully responsible for payment.

What comes with the Ranger Dorsia?

Call us before you buy and we will confirm exactly what comes in the box.

How long until my Ranger Dorsia arrives?

The Ranger Dorsia ships from Porto Mobility. Porto quotes delivery in about 1 to 5 business days for models in stock, and we email you the expected ship date after you order. If you need it by a certain day, call us before you buy and we will check the timing.

Will I get tracking?

Yes. As soon as your order ships we email you a tracking link so you can follow it to your door.

Can I return the Ranger Dorsia?

Yes, within 30 days of delivery, as long as it comes back in new condition in its original boxes with all of its parts. A 15% restocking fee applies. You prepay the return shipping, and the original shipping charges are not refunded, so keep the boxes until you are sure. Items sold as open box cannot be returned.

Warranty problems are handled separately and do not count as a return. Please read the full returns policy for the details.

How do I fold the Dorsia?

Take the 3 lb battery out first, then fold the chair down to 11 x 24.4 x 30.5 in. With the battery out you lift 30 lbs, and we can walk you through the fold by phone when it arrives.

How do the controls work?

You drive the Dorsia yourself, and the remote gives a companion a second way to steer it. Top speed is 4 mph, and the intelligent electromagnetic brake holds the chair when you stop.

How do I charge the battery?

The Dorsia runs on one 24V 12Ah semi solid lithium battery that weighs 3 lbs. A full charge takes about 6 hours, so overnight charging covers the next day. Extra batteries are available by phone if you want a spare for long days.

Where can I drive it?

The 27.6 in turning radius suits homes, stores and restaurants, and the solid PU wheels won't go flat on sidewalks. Porto rates it for slopes of 8 to 12 degrees, so treat 8 degrees as the limit and take ramps slowly and straight on. Porto does not publish a water resistance rating for the Dorsia, so keep it out of rain and standing water.

Will it fit in my car?

Folded, the Dorsia measures 11 x 24.4 x 30.5 in, slim enough to stand upright in many trunks or on a back seat floor. With the battery in it weighs 33 lbs. If you would rather not lift it yourself, ask us about the Porto lifts and we will check which one works with the Dorsia.

Can I fly with it?

Airlines each set their own rules for mobility devices and lithium batteries. Call your airline with the battery details before you book, and we can give you those details by phone.

Is Porto Mobility a good brand?

Porto Mobility designs and sells folding power wheelchairs, lightweight folding mobility scooters and portable chair lifts. Its Ranger chairs fold small enough for a car trunk or SUV cargo area, on carbon fiber or aluminum alloy frames depending on the model, and Porto publishes a weight capacity for each chair, scooter and lift.

Porto's standard warranty covers the frame for 3 years and the electronics and batteries for 1 year, and some models carry different terms. When a covered part fails, Porto sends the replacement part and connects you with a local service provider. As an authorized dealer we stay your first point of contact and take the claim to Porto's technical team for you.

How is my chair delivered?

Delivery to your curb is free. Check the packaging and the chair before you sign for it, and call 1-888-233-5563 if anything looks wrong.

Can I pay over time?

Yes. Choose Klarna at checkout to pay over time. See how financing works.

Can I talk to someone before I buy?

Yes. Call 1-888-233-5563. Real people answer, business hours and weekends.
