Overview

Porto Mobility Ranger Quattro XL folding power wheelchair, lower frame, footplate and front casters, low angle

The Ranger Quattro XL puts the Quattro's dual 300W motors on a wider frame with a height adjustable backrest. It carries riders up to 400 lbs, weighs 58 lbs without batteries, reaches up to 6 mph and covers up to 20 miles on two lithium batteries.

The Quattro XL is built for a rider who finds the standard Quattro seat too narrow. Porto lists a 19 in seat with 21.5 in between the armrests and a 17 in seat depth, and the backrest adjusts in height to suit a taller rider. The seat sits 21 in off the ground. The open chair is 25.2 in wide, so measure the doorways you use every day before you order.

Power comes from the same two 300W brushless motors used across the Quattro family, run by a 40 amp controller with regenerative braking. Each 24V 10Ah lithium battery weighs 3.5 lbs. Porto lists a charge time of about 4 hours with the 5A charger for this model.

Key Features

  • Rated for riders up to 400 lbs
  • 19 in seat with 21.5 in between the armrests and a 17 in seat depth
  • Height adjustable backrest
  • Dual 300W brushless rear motors with a top speed of up to 6 mph
  • Up to 20 miles on two batteries, or up to 30 miles with a third battery
  • 4 point suspension with puncture free tires, 8 in front and 12 in rear
  • Joystick mounts on either armrest or on the backrest for caregiver driving

Who the Quattro XL Suits

The XL is for a rider who wants Quattro power with more room at the hips and a backrest that can be raised. The frame weighs 58 lbs before the batteries go in, 8 lbs more than the standard Quattro. If lifting that into a trunk is a concern, plan on a helper or a vehicle lift.

How It Compares

The XL sits between the standard Quattro and the Quattro XXL. Compared with the standard model it adds the adjustable backrest and more seat room, and it is 25.2 in wide overall against 23.5 in. The XXL weighs the same 58 lbs but moves to a 24 in seat, a 440 lb rating and a 26.5 in overall width.

Warranty

What does the Ranger Quattro XL warranty cover?

Porto covers the Quattro XL frame for 4 years and the motor for 2 years. The controller and the batteries carry 1 year of coverage.

Porto does not cover damage from abuse, such as taking it through deep water or dropping it. When a covered part fails, Porto sends the replacement part and connects you with a local service provider for the repair. If something goes wrong, contact us first and we will take the claim to Porto's technical team for you.

What is the difference between the Ranger Quattro XL and the standard Quattro?

The Quattro XL has a 19 in seat with 21.5 in between the armrests, against an 18.5 in seat on the standard Quattro, and it adds a height adjustable backrest. It weighs 58 lbs without batteries, 8 lbs more than the standard chair. Both carry 400 lbs, use two 300W motors and go up to 20 miles on two batteries.

How long does the Ranger Quattro XL battery take to charge?

Porto lists about 4 hours with the 5A charger for the two 24V 10Ah lithium batteries. Each battery weighs 3.5 lbs, and a third battery, available by phone, takes the range from up to 20 miles to up to 30.

Can I take the Ranger Quattro XL on a plane?

Porto makes no airline statement for the Quattro XL. Its two 24V 10Ah batteries come to 240 watt hours each, so share that figure and the battery count with your airline before you book.

How do I order the Ranger Quattro XL?

Add it to your cart on this page and check out, which takes a few minutes. You can pay in full or choose Klarna to spread the cost over monthly payments.

Can I order the Ranger Quattro XL over the phone?

Yes. Call 1-888-233-5563 and we will place the order with you. All we need is your payment method and your shipping address. Extra batteries and other Porto accessories can be added to a phone order.

Does Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance help pay for the Ranger Quattro XL?

We do not work with Medicare and we do not bill private insurance directly. Some private plans will reimburse you after you buy, so it is worth calling your insurer to ask. If they say yes, we are happy to provide an invoice and proof of purchase so you can file for reimbursement.

Notice to Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries. Medicare pays for equipment only when the supplier has a Medicare supplier number. Heavy Duty Mobility does not have one, so Medicare will not pay for anything we sell you. You are personally and fully responsible for payment.

What comes with the Ranger Quattro XL?

Call us before you buy and we will confirm exactly what comes in the box.

How long until my Ranger Quattro XL arrives?

The Ranger Quattro XL ships from Porto Mobility. Porto quotes delivery in about 1 to 5 business days for models in stock, and we email you the expected ship date after you order. If you need it by a certain day, call us before you buy and we will check the timing.

Will I get tracking?

Yes. As soon as your order ships we email you a tracking link so you can follow it to your door.

Can I return the Ranger Quattro XL?

Yes, within 30 days of delivery, as long as it comes back in new condition in its original boxes with all of its parts. A 15% restocking fee applies. You prepay the return shipping, and the original shipping charges are not refunded, so keep the boxes until you are sure. Items sold as open box cannot be returned.

Warranty problems are handled separately and do not count as a return. Please read the full returns policy for the details.

How does the Quattro XL fold?

Porto lists the folded XL at 25.2 x 29.1 x 13.2 in. Remove the two 3.5 lb batteries first so you are lifting the 58 lb frame on its own. We can talk you through the fold by phone before your first trip.

How do the controls work?

The joystick mounts on the left armrest, the right armrest or the backrest, so either the rider or a caregiver can drive. The regenerative brakes slow the chair when you ease off the stick.

How long does charging take?

Porto lists about 4 hours to charge with the 5A charger. Two batteries give up to 20 miles, and extra batteries are available by phone if you want a third pack for up to 30 miles.

Where can I ride the Quattro XL?

Porto rates it for slopes up to 25 degrees. Take any slope slowly and straight on, never across it. It turns in a 33 in radius, has 2.5 to 3.5 in of adjustable ground clearance and rides on puncture free tires. Porto does not publish a water resistance rating for the XL, so keep it out of rain and standing water.

Will it fit in my car?

Folded, the XL measures 25.2 x 29.1 x 13.2 in and the frame weighs 58 lbs without batteries. Measure your trunk or cargo area before ordering, and call us if you want help checking a specific vehicle.

Can I fly with it?

Porto's listing for the Quattro XL does not describe the batteries as airline compliant. Each one is a 24V 10Ah lithium pack, so give your airline those figures and confirm their rules before you book.

Is Porto Mobility a good brand?

Porto Mobility designs and sells folding power wheelchairs, lightweight folding mobility scooters and portable chair lifts. Its Ranger chairs fold small enough for a car trunk or SUV cargo area, on carbon fiber or aluminum alloy frames depending on the model, and Porto publishes a weight capacity for each chair, scooter and lift.

Porto's standard warranty covers the frame for 3 years and the electronics and batteries for 1 year, and some models carry different terms. When a covered part fails, Porto sends the replacement part and connects you with a local service provider. As an authorized dealer we stay your first point of contact and take the claim to Porto's technical team for you.

How is my chair delivered?

Delivery to your curb is free. Check the packaging and the chair before you sign for it, and call 1-888-233-5563 if anything looks wrong.

Can I pay over time?

Yes. Choose Klarna at checkout to pay over time. See how financing works.

Can I talk to someone before I buy?

Yes. Call 1-888-233-5563. Real people answer, business hours and weekends.
