The RMB Protean is a patented folding 3 wheel electric scooter built for people who need real transport range in a package that stows almost anywhere. A 48V 500W brushless hub motor pushes it to 16 mph, and a two speed button drops the limit to 8 mph when you are riding indoors or around pedestrians. On a full charge the Protean covers up to 30 miles, which puts it in touring territory rather than short errand range.
The party trick is the fold. The handlebars drop and the frame collapses into a 29 x 27 x 20 inch block, so it fits an RV storage bay, a pickup bed, a car trunk or an apartment closet. RMB designed the Protean around RV owners, warehouse crews, rental fleets and mobility riders who refuse to leave their wheels at home.
Riding position is upright and flexible. The seat and handlebars both adjust for height, the deck is a flat step through floor, and the twist grip throttle carries a reverse switch for tight parking moves. A 16 inch front wheel with 12.5 inch rears smooths out pavement seams better than the tiny casters on typical travel scooters.
RMB rounds out the package with an alarm system, dual USB charge ports, LED headlight, under deck accent lighting, a front basket and a factory tow hitch that pairs with RMB cargo trailers. With a 350 lb weight capacity the Protean carries larger riders that most folding scooters turn away.

RMB publishes an owner manual and a product brochure for the Protean as PDF downloads, and a printed manual plus tool kit ship in the box. The factory spec sheet is also posted on the RMB EV product page.
Charging is simple. The EZ Swap battery pack lifts out of the scooter, so you can charge the pack at a kitchen outlet while the Protean stays in the garage or RV bay. The external 48V charger works on 110V to 240V power and a full charge takes 6 to 8 hours, so overnight charging is the natural routine.
Controls stay familiar after the first ride. A twist grip throttle handles speed, a reverse switch backs you out of tight spots, the 2 speed button toggles between 8 mph and 16 mph, and an LED voltage indicator shows remaining charge at a glance. The headlight, horn and dual USB ports run off the main pack.
For transport, fold the handlebars and collapse the frame down to 29 x 27 x 20 inches. At 101 lb the Protean is a two person lift or an easy roll up a ramp, and the folded shape sits flat so it will not tip in a moving vehicle. RV owners routinely slide it into a basement storage bay. Store it indoors or covered, and top off the battery every few weeks during long storage.

I needed a mobility scooter that was auto-folding, but not overly engineered where problems can arise, was not too heavy to lift by myself, would easily fit in the trunk of my car, and not be overly expensive. Wishful thinking I thought. Until I discovered the MOJO on my computer. This scooter ticked all my boxes, and more. It is comfortable, well built, is easy to charge the batteries without having to bend down to remove them, and even if you do want to remove them they are accessible from the standing position. the tiller is fully adjustable as are the arm rests, the folding/unfolding functions are easily initiated, and the axle release is easily achieved. A well engineered piece of kit. Now, for the customer service: I can honestly say that I have never come across anything like it; it is absolutely perfect. The gentleman I dealt with 'bent over backwards' to help me without pressuring me into a purchase, and to ensure I was buying a scooter that was right for me. Because I live in New Zealand I knew I was creating a lot more work for him, but he never complained. This and my MOJO are very much appreciated.
