A Look at the Vita Monster

EV Rider has come to be known as one of the most innovative mobility companies on the market. Their designs have empowered a new generation of mobility challenged individuals to embrace their mobility needs. The Vita Monster is the most robust mobility device from EV Rider with an all-terrain composition. Independent suspension on each wheel allows it to perform independently on rough terrain, so the rider receives a smoother, more enjoyable ride experience. The Vita Monster offers more of a sporty appearance than the traditional mobility scooter design. However, even though it looks like a beast, controls and comfort features remain manageable for all mobility challenged individuals. An adjustable tiller and captain’s chair offer substantial support while riding and the unique headlights and blinker systems provide adequate safety without looking too conventional. Dependability and style is found at every angle onboard the Vita Monster. Low and high beam headlights come standard on the Vita Monster. Dual rear view mirrors and wrap around, ergonomic controls enable the driver to maintain comfort throughout the riding experience. While piloting the Vita Monster, you will never feel strained and the LED display helps you manage energy levels and know exactly when the device requires charging. You will never feel alone when riding the Vita Monster and you are assured of a smooth, capable ride on every outing.

Adjustable Comfort Features to Appreciate

Customer comfort and overall safety is the key ingredient in the design of the Vita Monster. You cannot possibly build a high quality, heavy duty, all-terrain mobility device without considering the safety and comfort of the person it is built for. The Vita Monster offers advanced and traditional comfort features that riders enjoy. Features such as an adjustable tiller with an easy to read LCD display and adjustable seating with a seat belt come standard on the device. While you are enjoying the versatility of the all terrain format of the Vita Monster, you can remain completely safe and the fun does not even have to stop when the sun goes down. One flick of the switch and your Vita Monster’s headlights come on with variable dimming functions so you will always be able to light the way.

High-End 4 Pole Motor System

Consideration for the type of motor system your mobility scooter possesses is vitally important to overall performance and dependability of the device. The Vita Monster is made to be among the most performance driven mobility scooters on the planet and a large part of that mindset is dedicated to the 4 pole motor system within the vehicle. A 4 pole motor system ensures that every wheel receives adequate torque from the motor. Where some mobility scooters are rear wheel drive while others are front wheel drive, a 4 pole system utilizes 4 magnets to improve propulsion and climbing ability. Generally, standard mobility devices rely on a 2 pole motor format as they are not required for off road excursions. The Vita Monster is designed to do it all and the 4 pole system enables it to climb higher inclines and contend with various terrains with ease.

Will I Experience Bounce?

The Vita Monster is not your everyday, average mobility device. It is designed to be there for you day or night on virtually any terrain. There can be some bouncy moments depending on what type of terrain you are traversing, but due to the highly advanced suspension system and large 15” wheels, the Vita Monster offers less bounce even on rough terrain. You might feel some bounce, but the technology found in the quad suspension system keeps it to a minimum.

How fast does the Vita Monster go?

At full speed, you can reach 11.5 mph.

You will find some other brands offer scooters that go faster than this, however high quality brands put a high emphasis on safety too.

In order for a mobility scooter to go faster than around 10 mph, heavy investment must be made to ensure it stays just as safe. For this reason, the more reputable and safe a brand, the more they cap the top speed of their mobility scooters.

How long do the Vita Monster batteries last per charge? How many years of use can I get out of the batteries?

Battery running time per charge is measured in miles as opposed to time i.e. how many miles can a fully charged set of batteries take the scooter?

The answer depends on the user’s weight as well as the kind of terrain the scooter is operated upon.

Please take these manufacturer figures with a grain of salt, bearing in mind manufacturers may test their scooters in optimum conditions you won’t find in real life.

For a Vita Monster mobility scooter, the batteries last: 28 miles.

The lifetime of your Vita Monster batteries is approximately 2 years, but very much depends on how much you use your scooter and whether you take good care of your batteries.

The cost of replacing a set of Vita Monster batteries is approximately $429

What kind of batteries are used in the Vita Monster?

This mobility scooter uses sealed lead acid (SLA) batteries. These batteries are maintenance free, meaning you don’t need to add water to them or anything like that.

They happily stay under their shroud for the duration of their lifetime and you shouldn’t need to do anything to them at all.

Lithium-ion batteries are not used, primarily due to cost. With batteries expiring after 2-3 years, the cost of replacing lithium batteries for a machine this size would run into several thousand dollars, vs. gel-cell which is more around the $500 mark.

Will the Vita Monster seat fit me?

This scooter’s seat width is 20”.

This is a great seat size for most people and is more generous than most standard/travel mobility scooters.

If in doubt, we recommend measuring a chair in your house that you're comfortable on, to compare sizes.

How much weight can the Vita Monster carry?

The weight capacity of the Vita Monster mobility scooter mobility scooter is 350 lbs.

What kind of ground clearance does the Vita Monster have? Is it good for paths and trails?

The Vita Monster mobility scooter has 4 inches of ground clearance. It will cope on grass, gravel and dirt paths, but there are other mobility scooters which would perform better in this area.

Exlpore our all-terrain mobility scooter collection.

How big is the Vita Monster? Will it fit indoors and how sharp does it turn?

The Vita Monster is a large mobility scooter. You can drive it indoors to keep it safe and leave it close to the front door.

As far as stores are concerned, you can use it in large stores such as Walmart and in malls, but it may not fit in smaller supermarkets.

The Vita Monster has a turning radius of 53”.

How to Purchase & What's Included

Why are mobility scooters so expensive?

We sell all our scooters at the minimum price (MAP) the manufacturer allows us to advertise for. If we advertise for cheaper, we could be prosecuted. This means we are cheaper or at the same price as all dealers complying with the rules. If you find another site selling for cheaper, we will price match, so long as they are within MAP. Scooters can be expensive because of the following reasons: The recent skyrocketing of shipping prices, coupled with rising inflation, have made these scooters significantly more expensive than they were, say one year ago.

Does Medicare/Medicaid or private insurance help pay for the EV Rider Vita Monster?

Many heavy-duty/recreational mobility scooters do not qualify as medical devices under Medicare/Medicaid and private insurance strict rules. Though you might be disabled and using the device in a full medical sense, Medicare/Medicaid and private insurance seem to want to save as much money as they can, and do so by making the rules about which models qualify very strict. You might have spent significant time trying to find a Medicare/Medicaid provider online, to no avail. This is because it’s actually very hard for dealers to become Medicare providers, again making it hard for patients to get free scooters, again saving the insurance money. We don’t work with Medicare. We also do not bill private insurances directly. Some private insurances may reimburse you outside of Medicare’s framework. To check if your insurer does this, we recommend contacting them directly and asking. If they say yes, we’re happy to provide invoices/proof of purchases so you can get your money back from your insurer. Here’s a full disclaimer with regard to Medicare/Medicaid: Notice to Medicare/Medicaid Beneficiaries. Medicare will pay for medical equipment and supplies only if a supplier has a Medicare supplier number. Heavy Duty Mobility does not have a Medicare supplier number. Medicare will not pay for any medical equipment and supplies we sell or rent to you. You will be personally and fully responsible for payment.

Clicking on this link will allow you to track the shipping progress of your scooter. If you chose standard, curbside delivery at checkout: The shipping company will call you to schedule a delivery appointment - you don’t have to take the first day available - you can delay receiving your scooter for a couple of days if that works better for you. We will also provide you with their number so you can call to preemptively arrange an appointment, or incase they fail to call you. The shipping company will call you usually within an hour of delivery, to let you prepare yourself at the curbside nearest to your home. The truck (very often an 18-wheeler) will deposit your scooter on the curbside, on a wooden crate. Shipping, Warranty & Returns

Shipping

How long from the time of order until I get my Vita Monster mobility scooter?

Once shipped out, you can expect a transit time 4-5 business days. Please note these are indicative times and can vary based on how far you are from the supplier warehouse and the volume of orders being received. Also note that upgrades or extra accessory additions to your order may require extra time for installation.
  • If a Vita mobility scooter is showing LEAD TIME with a number of weeks indicated, the estimated ship out time is that lead time plus standard ship out and transit time indicated in the paragraph above.

  • If a Vita mobility scooter is showing OUT OF STOCK above, please contact us for more details. You can call us at 1-888-233-5563 or live chat with an agent by clicking here.

Why are there such long lead times on some mobility scooters?

Covid has dealt a horrible blow to pretty much every industry on the planet. Right from mining materials to processing them to the factories that produce parts, shipping and freight companies - at every stage of the chain there are workforce shortages and severe delays.

My Vita Monster mobility scooter is showing a long lead time above. Why should I buy a scooter now if in any case I won’t get it right away?

Unfortunately, the way things are nowadays, with delays across the entire supply chain, if you wait until there is no lead time on your scooter, you might end up waiting forever. As soon as new stock comes in, it is assigned to orders that were already placed, sometimes weeks in advance. We don’t know how soon the situation will get better - and it may actually get worse before getting better again.

For this reason, customers are placing their orders as soon as they are able, to be placed on the list for as soon as the next scooters are ready to ship.

Where will my Vita Monster mobility scooter ship from?

Vita mobility scooters generally ship from the main warehouse in Fort Myers, Florida.

Who will ship my Vita Monster mobility scooter?

Vita are almost always shipped by R&L Carriers - a freight and trucking company. In most instances, your scooter is delivered by 18-wheeler, unless you choose white glove delivery.

How does the Vita Monster mobility scooter arrive – is any setup required?

If you choose white glove delivery, your scooter will be 100% ready to ride. With standard delivery, the scooter is pretty much assembled ready to ride, including batteries which are preinstalled. You just need to go through a few simple steps.
  • Your scooter will be boxed in cardboard and fastened with the use of tie-downs. We advise you to come prepared with a sharp pair of scissors/knife.
  • You can simply cut the cardboard box open, cut the tie downs and roll your scooter off the crate.
  • Your scooter will be partially charged, enough to ride it into your home for charging.
  • Note the wheels might have some air let out for safety during transit. You should top them up to the pressure recommended by the manufacturer in the user’s manual.
  • The seat may be folded down. There will be a lever at the side of the seat allowing you to raise it.
  • The tiller may be folded down too. Simply move the tiller into position as per the manual instructions, allowing you to raise it to driving position.
  • Mirrors may need to be screwed into the handlebars.

What happens if my order for an Vita Monster mobility scooter is damaged?

  • If the external boxes are damaged, make sure to note this next to your signature. Make sure to inspect the contents before signing.
  • If your scooter is damaged in a way that the entire scooter needs to be replaced, just refuse the entire delivery.
  • If your scooter is damaged in a way that a spare part needs to be sent out and installed (eg a broken mirror), accept the delivery, and list any damaged items next to your signature.
  • If you find damage after having signed for delivery without any damage notes, this can be really problematic as the shipping company may try to shift the blame onto you. This is why it’s important to check for damage, especially if the outside boxes are damaged.

What happens if my Vita Monster mobility scooter breaks down?

If your scooter malfunctions, please contact us.

Sometimes we are able to troubleshoot with you over the phone to fix the issue. In other cases, it’s a matter of shipping out a simple part, say if a knob needs replacing, under warranty conditions.

Once the fault is identified, a replacement part will be shipped out if under warranty. Installing the part is once again the customer’s responsibility. Please checkout our Afiscooters collection page - these scooters come with a more comprehensive warranty including free labor diagnosing and repairs.

Parts are available through us or the manufacturer, though you will be charged for these.

If you need someone to install parts or for other labor services, local technicians are available throughout the contiguous USA , at your cost.

Daily Operation & Transportation

Daily Operation

Is the Vita Monster mobility scooter easy to drive? How does acceleration work? How does braking work?

The Vita Monster mobility scooter is super easy to drive and control.

Remember, this is a scooter which was designed from scratch for seniors and those with disabilities. It takes into account that you might have slower reaction times and has automatic braking whenever you let go of the throttle.

It also features slow-speed mode for confined areas or whilst you’re building up your driving skills and want to go a little slower.

Acceleration/reverse is achieved by a lever in the handlebars, and braking is automatic when you let go of the brakes.

Due to the safety automatic brakes which kick in every time you let go of the throttle, your driving might seem a little jerky at first, but most people catch on very quickly and learn to use the throttle and brakes in a way that gives a smooth ride.

I only have use of my left hand. Can the Vita Monster mobility scooter work for left handed users? Can the Vita Monster mobility scooter be operated with one hand?

This scooter uses wig-wag throttle acceleration, meaning you can control it with one hand, without any modifications needed.

Can I ride the Vita Monster mobility scooter in the rain, snow, wind and hot sun?

  • Rain: It’s OK and safe if you get caught in the rain once in a while, or go through an occasional puddle, but you should try to avoid a trip if you know it’s going to rain.
  • Snow and ice: We cannot take responsibility for using the scooter in these kinds of weather conditions.
  • Cold weather: Fine, though it does negatively impact the battery health and lifetime.
  • Wind: Generally not an issue unless very strong winds that could tip the scooter over. If you have a mobility scooter with a canopy, remember, very strong winds can act as a sail to tip over your scooter.
  • Hot sun: No issue as far as the scooter is concerned. Remember to take along ample hydration!

Do the Vita Monster mobility scooter batteries need maintenance?

This mobility scooter uses maintenance-free batteries which do not need any care until they die, after around 2 years of use.

How often should my Vita Monster mobility scooter be inspected?

It’s a good idea to have your scooter checked once a year by a qualified technician.

Call us 1-888-233-5563 to get details on a local technician in your area.

You should also call us or a local tech if you hear strange noises coming out of your scooter.

How many years can I expect the Vita Monster mobility scooter to last me?

For this kind of mobility scooter, you can expect to get a lifetime of around 7 years or more.

This obviously depends on the way you take care of your scooter amongst other factors.

Transportation

Will the Vita Monster mobility scooter fit in my car trunk/truck bed?

This scooter will not fit in the vast majority of car trunks. It will however fit on most pickup truck beds.

If you’re planning on transporting your mobility scooter on a pickup truck bed, you’ll probably need a ramp to get the scooter up onto the truck bed.

Please contact us for more details at 1-888-233-5563 or live chat with an agent by clicking here.

I don’t have a large enough vehicle to transport the Vita Monster mobility scooter. What are my options?

  • Electric lift: The most common solution is to purchase a platform-style vehicle lift, which sits on your trailer hitch.

If you don’t have a trailer hitch on your vehicle, you’ll need to have one installed. The platform lowers right down to road level, you ride the scooter onto the platform, secure the scooter with provided straps and then activate a lift which raises the platform a few feet off the ground. You’ll need a vehicle that can take a max tongue weight of at least 500 lbs, so this won’t work for saloon and hatchback vehicles.

    Explore our electric lifts collection.

  • Manual Platform: Like an electric lift, this has a platform which sits on your trailer hitch, but this platform does not rise and decened, instead, it has a built-in ramp which flips out, allowing you to roll the scooter up onto the platform.

You’ll need a vehicle that can take a max tongue weight of at least 500 lbs, so this won’t work for saloon and hatchback vehicles.

Explore our collection of manual platforms.

  • Scooter trailer: This is a full-fledged trailer on its own wheels, which attaches to your trailer hitch.

There is just one company that designs and produces a trailer specifically for mobility scooters, or you can just get any generic trailer whose specifications match the S4 in terms of weight and dimensions.

Explore our collection of scooter trailers.

Do you sell vehicle lifts, platform ramps and trailers for the Vita Monster mobility scooter?

We do indeed. Explore our collection of vehicle lifts. Explore our collection of platform ramps. Explore our collection of scooter trailers.
