What are the differences between the Silverado Extreme and the EV Rider Vita Monster?

Performance

The Merits Silverado Extreme boasts a 950-watt motor and a 10-degree slope rating, which means it can handle steep inclines and off-road terrain with ease.

On the other hand, the EV Rider Vita Monster is a mobility monster has a powerful 900-watt motor, which can climb an even steeper angle of 12 degrees!

Moving over to top speed, which is a consideration for many, the Silverado can reach a top speed of 9.6 mph whilst again the Vita Monster beats it at a max speed of 11.5 mph

When judging by weight capacity, Silverado Extreme has a superb weight capacity of 450 lbs, while the Vita Monster can only hold up to 350 lbs

The Silverado Extreme also has a slightly longer travel range of 55 miles, compared to the Vita Monster‘s 28 miles.

Based on this, looking at the larger picture, if you’re looking for a mobility scooter that can take you on long outdoor excursions, the Silverado Extreme is the better option.

Note from the expert

Different manufacturers have different test methods and conditions. If you see a scooter with a more powerful motor that performs lower on inclines, this might indicate different testing methods.

However, it might also be that the gear system in the motor provides less torque on Silverado, despite having higher power output. As for top speed, this is regulated by a controller and it’s not surprising that a stronger motor could have a more restrictive top speed controller.

Convenience and Comfort

When it comes to convenience and comfort, both the Silverado Extreme and Vita Monster scooter have features that make them stand out. The Silverado Extreme has a full captain seat that reclines and is height-adjustable, along with flip-up armrests and a headrest that’s adjustable up and down. It also has a rotating seat that slides forward and back and an additional setting that extends the recline degree to 130-135 degrees.

The Vita Monster too shines in this area with a high captain seat, 13″ of floorboard. Add to that a fully adjustable tiller and cupholders in front. Vita Monster High Captain Seat close-up view.

Part of convenience lies in customization: the Silverado Extreme has more options for customization, such as a 1″ square hitch receiver at the back for universal accessories, built-in storage at the front, and the option to add a standard cage-style basket for grocery shopping. To be fair to the Vita Monster, it does come with a roll back bar for manual push and pull (that’s a terrifically practical factor), and comes with a seatbelt which some find to make their ride more comfortable, not just safer.Silverado Extreme Hitch Receiver (left) Vita Monster Roll Bar (Right)

Suspension Systems

The Silverado Extreme and Vita Monster both have suspension systems that provide a comfortable ride over rough terrain. However, while the Silverado Extreme has a full suspension system at the front and rear, the Vita Monster’s suspension is simply on a higher level. A role model in suspension sophistication, the mobility monster has double A front suspension and 3D rear suspension which users rear by and really provide a remarkably comfortable ride on rough terrain.

Turning Radius and Maneuverability

The Silverado Extreme has a turning radius of 82.7 inches, while the Vita Monster has a turning radius of 53 inches. This represents an enormous advantage to the Vita Monster in terms of navigating tighter outdoor spaces. It’s unheard of for a large, fastest all-terrain mobility scooter to have such a sharp turning radius and this can be a super important factor to many choosing their all-terrain scooter.

As far as dimensions go, the Silverado Extreme is a bit wider at 29 inches, while the Vita Monster is slimmer at 27 inches. If you’re looking for a mobility scooter that’s easier to maneuver and navigate through tight spaces, the Vita Monster is clearly the better option.

Price

When shopping for an all-terrain mobility scooter, prices do get high. At the time of writing, the Merits Silverado Extreme is available for $5,338, and the EV Rider Vita Monster scooter comes priced at $5,495. In other words, there is not much of a difference between the two in terms of price.

We understand these scooters represent a large purchase not all customers are able to pay for out of pocket. That’s why we’ve partnered with Klarna and PayTomorrow for financing options, offering a mobility scooter payment plan, so you can just pay a monthly fee over time.

As an example, for the EV Rider Vita Monster, customers can finance the scooter through PayTomorrow with a mobility scooter payment plan that comes with a monthly payment of $261.22. The financing plan may require a down payment or credit check, and interest rates and fees may apply.

Similarly, for the Merits Silverado Extreme, customers can finance the scooter through PayTomorrow with a monthly payment of $253.75.

Please review the terms and conditions of the PayTomorrow financing plan carefully before agreeing to it. Be sure to understand the interest rates, fees, repayment terms, and any penalties or charges that may apply. Additionally, check your credit score and financial situation to ensure that you can afford the monthly payments and that the financing plan is suitable for your needs.

Running Costs

Running costs of both scooters is going to be pretty low. Generally, you’ll be paying for the electricity to charge the scooter – a pretty much negligible cost.

However, it’s important to consider the long-term costs of owning a mobility scooter, such as maintenance and repairs. The Merits Silverado Extreme is constructed with a high-quality steel frame and a powerful motor, which are designed for longevity and require minimal maintenance over time.  Though the Vita Monster has a similar frame, its more complicated suspension system and greater number of electronic features may necessitate somewhat more frequent maintenance.

Unit Weight & Transportation

The Merits Silverado Extreme and the EV Rider Vita Monster are both heavy-duty scooters that are not designed for easy transportation. The Silverado Extreme has a weight of 350 lbs, while the Vita Monster weighs 267 lbs. It is essential to note that both scooters require a vehicle with a ramp or lift to transport them.

If you plan to travel with your scooter, the Vita Monster may be a more convenient option due to its slightly lighter weight. However, if you require a heavy-duty scooter that bounces less on rugged terrain, the Silverado Extreme, due to its heavier weight, may be a better choice. Think of this in terms of an automobile. A luxury car such as a Rolls Royce often weighs several times an equivalent standard car. This extra weight delivers a smoother ride when going over bumps.

Lighting and Safety

In terms of lighting and safety features, the EV Rider Vita Monster and the Merits Silverado Extreme are quite similar. The Vita Monster is equipped with a full LED lights package, complete with low/high beam headlights, rear brake lights, and front and rear turn signals. It also has rear view mirrors, a safety belt, and a front bumper to enhance its safety features.

On the Merits Silverado Extreme end too, there’s a comprehensive LED lights package, front bumper.

Other safety features of the Silverado Extreme include intelligent regenerative electromagnetic brakes and a parking brake. The regenerative brakes offer a smooth stopping experience, while the parking brake keeps the scooter secure when not in use.

The EV Rider Vita Monster mobility scooter is also equipped with a reliable and powerful braking system. The scooter has a dual disc brake system, which means there are two disc brakes located on the rear wheel. The disc brakes are activated by squeezing the brake levers located on the handlebars. This type of braking system provides a responsive and reliable stopping power, which is especially important for a heavy-duty scooter like the Vita Monster.

In addition to the dual disc brake system, the Vita Monster also has an electromagnetic braking system, which serves as a backup to the mechanical disc brakes. This system is activated when the user releases the throttle or applies the brake lever. The electromagnetic brakes are designed to provide additional stopping power, and to ensure that the scooter comes to a complete stop quickly and safely.

The high capacity off-board 8A charger can fully recharge the batteries in 8-10 hours, which is a reasonable amount of time for such large capacity batteries. It’s worth noting that these SLA batteries require proper maintenance to ensure their longevity, such as keeping them charged on a constant basis and stored in a dry and cool environment.

With the EV Rider Vita Monster mobility scooter, there are two 12V 75Ah batteries, offering a travel range of up to 28 miles on a single charge – not as much as the Silverado. This applies to all customers in the continental USA – we send out a technician from a local company.

Moving over to the EV Rider Vita Monster, this scooter’s warranty includes three years on all structural frame components, including the platform, seat post, and frame. The warranty also covers any part or electronic component of the scooter or charger found to be defective in material and/or workmanship for one year from the date of purchase. Please note that labor charges are not included, and all spare parts carry a six-month limited warranty from the day of sale, including replacement batteries and chargers sold separately from the original scooter purchase.

We can’t understate how important it is to read the warranty terms and conditions carefully before making your purchase to ensure that you fully understand what is and is not covered. At Heavy Duty Mobility, we believe in providing our customers with the best possible service and support. That’s why we offer a range of extended warranty options that can provide you with even greater protection and peace of mind. Contact us today to learn more about our extended warranty options and how we can help you protect your investment.
